He makes this class so much more difficult than it needs to be. He tries to show us how to solve problems on the board but cannot even solve them himself. The only grades are a midterm and final but he refuses to use blackboard so you dont actually now what your grade is

You only have three actual grades in the class (TWO midterms and a final), so if you don't do well on one, you're in trouble. He refuses to use blackboard so, you never know if he actually grades homework or not, which is super unfair because you won't know your grade. If you end up with him, I highly recommend dropping the class.

This class is difficult as it is and this professor makes it so much more confusing than things have to be. I just got back a test and he gave students full credit for not having the right answer but when having the right answer and not being able to explain how you got it fully will cause you to lose points... he stated that i did not convince him

He's a hilarious and funny teacher, and he's really good at giving lectures. I feel like I actually learn when I'm in his class. The problem is that it feels like he doesn't really grade and kinda just tosses grades around soley depending on your final project. I got A's on both tests but a B on the final so I got a B in the class.

He is a very intelligent guy. Many students take his personality the wrong way. He grades on the harder side and many people made mistakes, but they learned and took some logic with them from the class. In the end he gave every student opportunity to get an excellent grade by provingthey gained something from the class. He believes in you.

I had Dr. Juola for COSC 425, COSC 460, and Computer Networking. He is far from the easiest teacher; however, he really does get you prepared for the real world. He won't baby you in the class, but if you come to him with true questions (not do my project for me questions), he is more than willing to discuss it with you.

Dr. Juola's classes are always very hard. He doesn't expect you to be able to do the homework, it's supposed to stretch you to/past your limits. You learn more in his classes than in any others. And he doesn't just hand out answers, you need to work for it. But it will make you a better Computer Scientist. And it's totally worthwhile in the end.

Great professor! Tests were very fair and in accordance with the info presented during lectures. His stories of life experiences are funny, sarcastic,andmost of all very relevant to the lecture. His wit and sense of humor is a great way to connect to the students. He convinced me to switch to Linux n explained how to secure our comps and networks

Do not ever take this guy for any class especially basic programming. He is awful and gives out impossible assignments that no one in the class can complete. Not helpful at all and assumes everyone is a professional although its just an introductory class.

Outragous. Said he makes his tests with the goal of having everyone achieve a FIFTY percent. Failure should not be the objective of the teacher.Facilitating the diffusion of knowledge should. Said the tests would be only on what we covered during lecture but then used terms and asked questions on things we didn't coer. Get with it, teach.

He is by far, the worst teacher I've ever had! His physically appearance makes me sick. He farts, lays on the desk, and is generally unhelpfully. He gives out impossible assignments and gives zero help or what he calls help. His idea of help is drawing boxes, and lines and giving them different names. Everyone I know, hopes he gets fired.

By far Duquesne's most talented CS professor. Dr. Juola is a tough professor, but he's extremely helpful and fair. After you cut through his witticisms, he's a very nice guy. Definitely take classes with him if you can: you WILL be better for it!
