OMG this class was ridiculous. I wrote a story and she gave it back with her edits and I got a C+ on the first draft. I put her edits into the next draft, turned it in and got a lower grade after following HER advice. A C- for the re-write. Apparently she doesn't even think that she, herself, is any good at it either.

She marked my down for spelling when i spelled the words RIGHT! Highest grade I have received was a B- and I have won writing awards in the past! She is on a total power trip and has no sense of humor. She talks like she has dentures and doesn't teach anything well. I'm pretty sure she was Hitler in a past life.

You can work really hard on something and still get a horrible grade. Her class is really subjective. You learn alot but writing EXACTLY how she wants you to is the only way to get a good grade. There is no room for creativity

She will definitely make you work for your grade and there is a disappointment that comes with her when you think you did a good job, but still get a C on the story. However, if you go to her for help (either during office hours or just emailing her), she's very helpful.

Comment:

I didn't learn a single thing in this class. It's a good thing that I've had good professors who taught me a lot after her or I'd be screwed. Her class was a total waste of time. Be sure to suck up and prepare to bow down to the all-knowing (or so she thinks)professor.

She's on a total power trip. It's not surprising she teaches journalism, as grading reporting and editing is inherently subjective. Expect to fight boredom, learn little and receive grades based on anything but academic merit or journalism skill.
