Probably the coolest guy on the planet. Talks about dogs a lot. His notes can be a bit disorganized, but he makes sure to drill the most important details into your head. You could get by without the textbooks, but they help a lot to explain things he only briefly covers.

The class I took with Eison was a really easy one. The information was really interesting & Eison made the class easy. The first half of the semester make sure to take notes because the only test you take is open notes and book. That is the only time I used the text books and took notes. After that he is teaching so you leave with new information.

Eison is probably the coolest prof at Brockport. He allows creativity and individuality. If you do your work and show up to class, he is your friend. His films all deal with issues of the African-American race, so be aware of that. 496 has nothing besides a group project. He is my advisor and is proactive, but not technically knowledgable. Good guy

Overall Carvin is a very knowledgeable man, but he is only an average professor. Group project counted for the entire grade. Classes were spent watching videos he had made at a professional studio with a considerable budget. Waste of time when we should have been reviewing basic s like story format, editing, etc.

He is discussion-based and values conversations. If you invest in yourself he will invest in you. Bring an open-mind and you will go far. Attendance matters because the class structure is lead by the students and current events. It will be an enjoyable class if you're not a boring person. The healthy debates will have you wishing class was longer.

Wont show you how to do anything! Insists that if you don't figure out what you don't know by yourself you will never learn. convinced if he shows you an example of anything you will copy it! Also gives really crappy notes and wastes massive amounts of paper by not allowing you to double side and can only put a few lines on a page!

I've had Carvin before and he can be very cool. He is very into his "new" style of teaching and thinking outside the box. He can also be his own biggest fan sometimes, and be pretty hard to get a hold of out of class. Agree with him too, that helps.

Good class, teacher can be helpful outside of class, but in class, lectures are lengthy. Overall, good instructor, friendly informative, and genuine. Good person to know in the real world, away from the drama and fantasy of college.Ask for help, and he is pretty easy to understand. Class was useful.
