Comment:

I took Caryn's figure drawing class and it was the most fun class I had ever took. She helped me with my portfolio for university application and she wrote me a recommendation letter. You need a lot of time outside the class to do her homework, because it is not an easy class. You have to work for the A.

Caryn creates an amazing atmosphere for those who want to learn. As others have said, this is not an easy A. What you can expect from her is honesty, integrity, and professionalism. She is very talented and has a lot to offer as a teacher. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

While she comes off as nice in the beginning she falls short later on. Not only was she not understanding when students had plans they must attend to her instructions to an individual were short lived and unclear. She may be nice in most respects but as an art teacher she fails to understand not all of us have the same talent.

Caryn, is an amazing lady with a heart of gold. She's passionate about her work and education. She loves life, the environment, and her garden. Students are her first love though. I highly recommend her for a teacher if you are there to be taught. If this is a fluff class GOODLUCK.

During a (2 hour) class, She made us watch a long video of her whale watching in the San Juans, that's all we did that day. It was more than frustrating.The next day was followed by a slide show of her ego inflated paintings. Doesn't help you even learn how to paint. She acts like teaching is more of a chore. Definitely frustrating.

Some of these comments really surprised me! I've learned a ton being in Caryn's classes. She is kind, clear, helpful and encouraging. Her demos are spot on and leave one feeling like the assignments and techniques are totally doable. If you really want to learn about art and aren't just looking for a class to sleep in, you will love her!

I really liked Caryn. I can see how people might think she's a bit abrasive but she just wants you to respect her and the studio space. Obviously the instructor would like to be listened to! If you aren't going to try then you aren't going to get a good grade. Isn't that how it's supposed to be?

I still remember her teaching after 19 years. She was an inspiring woman and influenced my work. I live in London now and am very involved in the arts in the UK. She probably has something to do with that. She opened a window that wasn't there. If you are a dull person with no spark for learning, I can see not getting anything out of her classes

Aweome teacher! She always had helpful advice that really helped me excel at Figure Drawing. Honest and funny, she can sometimes come off a bit abrasive if your very sensitive. I like the grading structure for her class. Only problem was she should go over basics a little more for newbies.
