Unclear expectations. They use experimental coursework via wiki for a MANDATORY major class. I was not allowed to choose the lens or even topic for my paper that I had to work on for months. While I care about disability history, being FORCED to that was awful for secondary sources and they knew it. NEVER again with her. The entire class agreed.

I took her Disability and Culture in Modern America history class at SF State (since she teachers there now) and it was the greatest decision of my entire life! Yes, she's a tough grader but I found that by grading tough, she pushed me to improve my writing. Anyone who can fit in a class with her MUST do so!

I have absolutely no problem with tough graders, but her expectations were so unclear and she wasn't helpful whatsoever. In fact, I nearly dropped the honors thesis because I found her so frustrating to work with. Fortunately my advisor for my thesis was incredible so I thankfully stuck with it. Try to avoid this prof, if you can.

Lots of reading that you really need to do. Her lectures are unnecessary as the material is all in the readings. Not the greatest lecturer either.

Professor Kudlick is a very nice, well educated, and awesome professor! She knows the material well, explains everything explicitly, and answers every question the students asked. Although I only got a B for the overall course grade, I strongly recommend her! Read all you need to read, and do the assignments! you'll definitely get a B or higher!

Professor Kudlick is very nice and helpful. She obviously loves European history--so much so that she stumbles over her words during lectures a lot. Hopefully she'll learn to slow down a little. She's very approachable and genuinly willing to help. She enforces her students to rely heavily on the TAs, which can go either way depending on the TA.

She is an amazing professor, and really got me interested in history. She's also really fun to talk to outside of class and welcomes students in office hours for any sort of question. Take her classes if you get the chance whatsoever!

Sometimes it was hard to understand her, but ultimately she was a good teacher. She has a passion for the subject. Helpful to go to lecture and be sure to look at the blue section and pictures for terms in the textbook. Two papers and five novels, plus a midterm. Overall, a good class.

Professor Kudlick is a challenging teacher, but she does it in order to get the best performance out of her students. You have to work hard to get a good grade in her class, but it is worth it. I've come out of this class with more knowledge than other, easier classes She is a great teacher if you want to really LEARN!

She grades ridiculously hard, while trying to encourage certain students from dropping out of college all together. Also, she has a "do or die" policy for the reading where students are randomly called to an oral report worth 5% of your grade.

This is quite literally the worst teacher I have had in my career as a student. She is the most stringent grader ever and is no help when you try to understand what you did "wrong". I am an English major with a 4.0. Clearly, I know how to write an essay, but she thinks I have done B- work, twice. DO NOT take her if you value your GPA.

She's not bad. I failed most of the weekly quizzes and passed the class with a B-. READ the required reading and you should be fine. Also, study the IDs and go to your TA sessions for help on the essay questions. Her study sheets are helpful, use them.

Straight forward lecturer, easy to understand, easy to study for exams with study guide. Weekly quizzes will preclude an A in the class if you do not skim the reading. TAs were a ****. Mine refused to give out As, even when he admitted there was little I could do to improve my 89% paper.

Terrible lecuter. More interested in teaching the facts than helping the students understand the concepts and impacts of historical events. Very disorganized lecturing style. Possibly the worst lecturer at UCD. Unfair grading.

Very organized and clear lecturer. Very passionate about history. The weekly quizzes reinforce the importance of reading everything (including the gray boxes). Kind of quirky but in a funny way. The 2 papers (5-7 pages each) really helped me understand the era we were studying and midterms/tests were reasonable.

Amazing teacher. She is incredibly passionate. As a history major, I feel as though her class has really helped me to get a concrete understanding. She expects a lot (8 Books, 2 history books, intense lectures, confusing essays, easy finals, hard quizes). I really suggest you do all the reading for the monday quizes; they're based on details.

Quite possibly the best teacher on UCD campus. Kudlick cares so much about what she is teaching so it is actually interesting. This was the only class I actually looked foward to going to and I usually hate history. There is a lot of reading but it's not bad. Tests are extremely straight foward, nothing tricky. Seriously take this class.
