Although people have told me he grades, harshly, which I don't disagree with too much, I notice that he actually gives acceptable partial credit...he just doesn't show where exactly, since he just crosses off every wrong answer once you make an inevitable arithmetic mistake. He's actually quite nice, though, and I enjoyed his personal stories a lot

Silebi appears tough but his teaching is solid. He is extremely knowledgeable about the material he teaches and presents it in straightforward manner. It's worth the effort to take detailed notes and put honest effort into his homework assignments. And on exams, the answers were always simpler than I had expected. Go to office hours for help.

Horrible, rude, disrespectful, degrading. Not helpful and doesn't care about your academic career outside of his classes. People used to say he wasn't that bad but I think he is seriously getting worse.

Silebi silently pays attention to who's in class and who isn't. Weeks later he'll casually ask "Where were you on such-and-such date?" Overall he is a good professor and really wants his students to do well. Go to office hours and he will clarify anything you're struggling with.

Comment:

Mass and heat transfer was a great experience with Silebi. He may be loud but he's also hilarious when he wants to be. His off the cuff lectures are wonderful but he does occasionally use slides which make the class rather dry. He is extremely helpful if you just ask. He may enjoy "torturing us" but it's never that bad.

Methods is a tough class & Silebi knows his stuff, though the last 1/3 was of little practical value. Was always happy to help you through the tough stuff in his office. He cares more about undergrads than many other profs in the department. After a particularly bad semester he gave me a great pep talk that convinced me to stay in the program.

A very intellegent and knowledgeble professor! Both classes I took with him (Methods and Mass Xfer) were a memorable experience. Go to all his classes. Put effort into everything - and he will do everything to help you if you struggle. I think he yells mainly to wake you up 'cause class was at 8am:) Overall, his classes are hard but doable.

Overall a good professor. You don't like him mainly because of what he teaches. Transport is one of the most difficult courses in Engineering. Lehigh's stupid undergrads will never understand "transport phenomena".

He will make you work (HARD), but you will learn a lot, and he is always willing to help. In class, you will laugh often, and you will NOT sleep. If you are fortunate enough to have a class with him, be assured that you'll never forget the experience... because the nightmares will always haunt you.

All I heard before coming into heat transfer is how mean he is. Well, if you just go to class and you're not a jackass, you'll get along with him just fine. He's not mean, he just yells. It helps keep me awake for 8am class, too. He's not as bad as everyone says..trust me

Definitely one of the best professors at Lehigh. Extremely demanding, extremely intelligent. Always helpful if you are a student who attends class regularly (make sure you do). Does occasionally yell, but he's really a nice guy.
