Comment:

Prof. Baltus is a very nice person. However, his class is difficult. He uses ALEKS, which is extremely time consuming. His HWs may be easy, but don't be fooled by them. His classes are pretty note heavy and he occasionally hands out a worksheet to do in class. His exams are very tough and worth a lot of points. He also talks pretty low in lecture.

There's no point in going to class as he posts everything on blackboard but he still takes an attendance grade. He goes too fast, when I was with him we were over a chapter ahead of the other classes all Semester and there was a point were most of the class just stopped writing notes cause he went so fast. He is the hardest grader I've ever seen.

Look, Prof. Baltus is a very nice guy, but your book IS your teacher. As expected you will receive homework every day and most of it is easy, unlike the tests. Each test is comprised of 90% long proofs that bear no resemblance to any HW, quiz, or review sheet. Finishing his tests are always an extreme challenge in 55min given, a herculean task.

Baltus is one goofy dude but the class itself is somewhat easy BUT YOU GOTTA STUDY!!!!!! Easiest class I took this semester and still wound up with a B-. There are homework sheets every week and a quiz on those sheets. Tests are easy if you go to review sessions. He posts nearly everything on Blackboard but you gotta attend class to learn.

He is an okay professor. I would recommend you to take a person who is more flexible during class. But if you do what he tells you, and you do ales, you will do good. One of the things that were a little intimidate is that when you ask something in class, he would answer you but he would kinda make you feel a little stupid.

i am not very good in math, and have never liked it: took this class before in high school, and still struggled. Others often did well on the test, but you NEED to study. he uses my math lab often with both quizzes and homeworks. Not an unreasonable amount of work, and plenty of opportunities for grade boosts. very good at emailing and posts notes

Baltus shows interest in the class understanding the material and is very enthusiastic about what he teaches. There are graded homework assignments almost every class but they go along with what is taught in class. His grading is fair. Tests follow from what is learned and on the homework assignments. Gives tons of prac probs for tests/final

Professor Baltus is a great guy overall, but he is too overqualified to teach a freshman course. He is fast paced, and speaks very low. He almost mumbles during class. He helps when asked, but is still very unclear. You have to teach yourself !!WORST CLASS I EVER TOOK

If you are a good mathematics student Prof. Baltus's class is for you. He is a very intelligent man, but he has a hard time cutting things down to a point where less knowledgeable students can understand. He's very friendly however and he always offers practice sessions before tests. His tests are tough but passable, basically don't expect an A.

Awful. Nice guy and seems to know his stuff, however, mumbles as he speaks, expects you to understand extremely quickly, his lectures are USELESS, and most of our assignmentslessons were online through a program called Aleks. I learned more through a website then I did him (so why was I paying him?) extremely difficult grader. AVOID

Very friendly guy, he means well and always tries to help others but he only further confuses you. Calc 2 is not an easy class to teach yourself but that is the best I could do to pass the class. Best thing about him is that he is very nice with grades. His grading helps those who are at risk of failing and thanks to that I passed. P.S I love math

Baltus is a great teacher- I do not understand all the negative reviews. He goes the extra mile to help students. He is constantly sending messages about answer keys he is posting, review sessions etc. He does lots of practice problems and always gives review sheets. Grading policy is very kind to students. Only minor issue is organization

He thinks out loud but doesn't explain anything. He never gives clear directions and never gives you formulas or tells you where he's getting his numbers from. Too confusing, and I love math!

I got a beef with Baltus! He's an awful professor. He's awkward and unapproachable. He goes over things way to fast and doesn't explain himself at all. Takes off a lot of points for stupid mistakes. He laughs when I ask him a question that I don't know. Very discouraging. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH BALTUS.
