This class was horrible. I never wanted to go to class. I would fall asleep everytime. We would spend so much time on a poem that's 10 line and then not spend 5 seconds on a piece that's 15 pages long. She was always so "happy" you could tell it was forced. Never take Brit Lit.

The literature that she chose for us to read out of our textbook was odd. There were much more exciting and historically relevant texts within the book. Discussions were boring, and doing the same thing every day (discussion on what we read) was monotonous and tedious. It was difficult not to fall asleep. Quickly, her enthusiasm was just annoying.

Almost everything about how she teaches is wordy, uptight, & controlling, which is simply not conducive to encouraging analysis. She takes too long (3 weeks on average) to return essays. Half the amount of comments in half the time would have been twice as helpful. As a side note, I found her feedback on essays needlessly harsh, even on an A paper.

I had to write each of my essays five times and she would only give me a B+! It was absurd, each and every time I did exactly what she said. She pretty much just forced all of her ideas into my writing. She's nice and enthusiastic about lit, but doesn't grade fairly at all! It was only a 181 level!

I would've earned a B+ in this class except for her stupid BlackBoard assignments. Instead of typing 2 paragraphs for an online discussion I completed a quality paper. Apparently if you miss 1 of the 3 B.B. postings she takes away all of your earned pts for the other 2 - BEWARE! I'm a Dean's List student and English major. She is very picky.

She's such a sweet person. She's very attentive to the text and is so helpful and personable in during her office hours. And she gives you chocolate. The class discussions are sometimes frustrating, but that goes for 95% of the lit classes here.

Lectures are kind of boring, because the students do the majority of the discussing, and we just get confused. Gets really excited about British literature. Is really helpful and delightful to talk to during office hours.

Very good at what she does, but she really needs to understand that a level 100 course and a level 400 course are different in the way they need to be graded. She is very very picky when it comes to grading and expects too much alot of the time.
