Three exams, two papers worth ten points, sends a clipboard around for attendance. Showing up is graded worth up to five points, but you can have someone sign you in and he won't notice. Smart prof, knows what he's teaching. He wrote the book so everything in lecture is from book. can skip class as long as you read, don't need it if you go to class

Comment:

Professor Martin is super nice and does his best to try and know all of his students. His lectures are over powerpoints and are pretty self-explanatory. If you look at the powerpoints and take good notes then you can easily get by without the book. Attendance isn't required but you do have a sign-up sheet and get a small number of points from it.

Prof. Martin is an overall nice guy who really likes what he's teaching about, but he is SO boring!!! Plus the tests are over so much content, and you learn like nothing about it from his lectures. Although attendance is mandatory, he just passes around a clipboard at the beginning of class and you can have someone sign your name.

He's great! He makes his lectures relatable and easy to understand. He's approachable and he works with you to understand the topics. Class discussion isn't mandatory but is encouraged. Lectures are long but easy to follow, they're mostly pictures.

Comment:

Professor Martin is a nice guy. However, his teaching style is incredibly hard to listen to. Very boring and dry. This class seems more like a history class than anything. I took this class as an elective and would not recommend it unless you have to take it.

A lot of people say that Mass Comm & Society with him is hard, but I don't see why. You don't even really need to read as long as you show up and take thorough notes. The powerpoints aren't all that detailed, so take notes on what is being said. There's just three tests and two easy papers. Although he's slightly boring, overall the class was easy.

Dr. Martin is a REALLY nice guy. I love him as a person, but he is the most boring professor ever. Mass Comm & Society is long and arduous! His exams are hard so study. He grades easy on the projects and he also gives lots of extra credit. I would recommend doing some extra credit because his exams (the few of them) can take your grade down fast.

As a person he is super nice and pretty cool, but the lectures are so long and lame. Then, after 4 weeks (thats 12 hours worth of solid lecture) you get tested over it. Thats like 6 chapters to study for. If this subject is easy for you, or if you already know a lot of media history maybe it would be easier.

Chris is a fantastic professor! The Mass Comm class is interesting and easy. The tests are straight forward and not hard. He offers extra credit options too. Two tests and two assignments. He is a great guy!

Gives a study guide at the end of every unit test. Only 3 tests, 2 easy paper, and attendance is counted for. He sends around the clipboard at the beginning of class, so you could just sign and leave (what I did all semester). Just do the study guides you'll be fine.

This class was extremely hard to go to because of Martin's monotone voice. His powerpoints also aren't very helpful, so take notes and read for the exams. Your grade is based on exam scores, so if you can stay awake in class, and study for exams you'll be fine.

The class was pretty easy, no tests just weekly quizes about the lectures (with the notes that are online) and current events, just read the paper and you'll be fine! Plus there's weekly assignments which are all actually worth doing... no busy work, really good guy! I'd take him again!

Comment:

Excellent class to take if you have other homework you could do. Also great for nap time. Takes attendence but once sheet has gone around, many people leave. You watch a lot of videos and he just lectures, kinda boring. Tests are not too bad...if you do the study guide he has posted easy points.
