Extremely helpful and very kind, Professor Merrett is probably the best professor I have ever had. He encourages you to learn and to love it. In class, he pushes you to develop. Outside of class, this man finds time to fit anybody into his already busy schedule. Truly invaluable.

Obviously very intelligent, which can be a bit intimidating at first. Once you are around him you realize he is also very approachable, humorous and helpful. Expects you to work hard, attend class, pay attention and be very involved.You will benefit from any courses he teaches. There is a reason so many ask him to chair their thesis.

Dr. Merrett is one of the best professors I have encountered, regardless of the academic institution. I would not be pursuing my Ph.D. if it were not for the drive that Dr. Merrett instilled in me because of his personal work ethic. Thanks Dr. Merrett.

He is definitely one of the best professor in WIU.I donot know what the heck is doing in WIU.He is an IVY league material. If you are looking for knowledge or someone to guide you through thesis writing, take him. I learnt more from him than all professors combined in Geography department.

Dr. Merrett is honestly one of the best professor's at WIU. Very well read, very intelligent, and brings all material down to the student's level (hence why he chairs so many thesis committees). I advise anyone to take a course from him.
