Hated this class with a passion. The homework was pointless and had nothing to do with the exams. The exams were ridiculously hard. He is not very welcoming or interested in student achievement either. Take a different global issues course please.

The online class was fairly simple. He tells you what he wants done and when by. He gives you all the assignments in advance so you can even get ahead of everything. I enjoyed the online class a lot

Dr. Sutton is very passionate about geography, which is fun. Lectures can get a bit boring sometimes, but he has a sarcastic sense of humor which I like. If you skip class, it'll affect your grade big time. A bit of a tough grader, but just don't slack off and you'll do fine. His labs are step-by-step and explain everything. I'd take him again.

Comment:

Really effective professor if you are interested in GIS and learning about the ArcMap software. The final project is manageable if you work on it ahead of time and don't slack off. Test are pretty easy if you study. He provides study guides online and he provides a website to help you study. And for the class you do not have to have a book.

You need to work to keep up in this class. Reading the chapter, taking a chapter exam and answering 70-100 homework questions for each chapter takes 3 to 4 hours for each chapter. You can not blow this class off or else you will be behind. Mastering website was difficult at times, content was fairly interesting. The weather section was tough!

This is one of the worst teachers that I have ever had in class. I fall asleep almost all the time in his class. He is boring as hell and doesn't keep the attention of his students at all. He also started using a new Mastering Geography website which is so hard that there is almost no use in trying. There is also no way to study for his tests.

I love Sutton. He's the best professor ever! I came into the class dreading it because Geography is super boring to me, but he makes it fun. He's really sarcastic, and I love that. He makes jokes and keeps things lively. Definitely take him over anyone else. You'll be glad you did.

A great teacher, I took his online Geograpghy 110 class. All emails were responded to literally right away. However, his grading was very complex. And nothing on the exams were relevant to all the homework we did. He did warn us of that though. Just doesnt make much sense. But he was a very helpful teacher and I learned a lot in his class.

Dr. Sutton is extremely sarcastic, something I don't like, especially in the college setting. He gave me the lowest grade I've ever received during my undergrad as a geography major. I got all A's except for his class because he refused to help me when I had questions. I'm a grad student now and I'm glad I don't have classes with him anymore!

Very helpful, and will tell you what you need to do to make your final project the best possible. His lectures show that he works hard at making them a go as well as possible, but still he's flexible enough to toss lecturing for a day to joke around, or explain something from lab

Dr. Sutton is awesome. He definitly knows his stuff. People below are complaining about labs being unclear, however, I did not have any trouble because they give you step by step instructions. I aced this class because I studied hard and went to class. As long as you pay attention in class and do not blast through the labs you should do fine.

Sutton is funny, he's helpful, he tells you exactly how to be a good cartographer. Definitely a more relaxing class in terms of coursework load. If you don't even read- and just go to class and lab... and you can't pull off an A or B, you've got something wrong with you. Final project is totally manageable, people need to stop whining.

Dr. Sutton is very random with his lectures. He hands out these thick lab packets that will take you forever to finish unless you're already familiar with ArcMap. He can be unclear most of the time as to what he wants. Final project is pure luck as to doing it the way you should. Acts nice in class but shady in his office. He's sketchy!

Dr. Sutton is unclear with his lab requirements sometimes. I always felt as if I had to ask a question about each direction that was on the lab manual. It's very difficult to do the labs if you're not good with computers, plus learning new software is challenging. He's kinda nice though. He's nice in class but strange in person when you talk to him

He is an extremely intelligent man who is very dedicated to his students. His classes are challenging but he is willing to help his students so they will get the most from his class. It was an honor to be in his class.
