Comment:

Absolutely great but can be very tough if you dont try. Shes very lecture heavy so going to class is a must to pass. Labs and homework are very easy but she is able to help if you need it. Tests are difficult. Theres no multiple choice and basically all short answer but there are reviews and extra credit. All you have to do is study, study, study.

She is an amazing professor! I am currently in her class and she does many examples in class, but if you skip class you won't pass. She flies through her power points but at the same time it's at a steady rate for you to understand. You can't slack off in this class because it's a lot of information in one class. I would definitely take her again

Comment:

Both CHEM 301 and 302 with Hermann were easy to me but you have to go to class for the notes or you won't make good test grades or homework grades. If you skip class and don't study for tests you'll easily fail. If you put in the effort and work you're supposed to, it's easy to get an A. Gives extra credit, don't take for granted!

she isn't a bad professor, but she isnt a good one either. Attendance isn't mandatory, she just reads off the power point the entire class. She offers zero explanation, then acts as if you're crazy when you go to her office hours. Don't get me wrong, she's a very nice woman. Don't take this If you plan on continuing in professional academic study.

best bet is to find someone who will go every other day that you don't go so you don't have to go to the 8 am all the time since attendance is not mandatory but you have to go to get the notes if you want to pass, GO TO LAB, do the hw and go to review sessions (they are exactly like tests), drops lowest test, hw and lab!

If you are a chemistry major avoid taking it with her due to the fact that she doesn't explain why majority of the reactions occur. Other than that just be prepared to memorizes numerous amounts of reactions and you'll do well.

Dr. Hermann is a pretty good teacher. All of her lecture is from PowerPoint slides which she posts up on D2L. You do not need to buy the book but need to have access to an online component where labs and homework will be posted. She doesn't take attendance and is really nice about helping you out.

Not a bad teacher! Explains it as simply as can be put. Nice person, willing to help always. Don't know why ppl give her a bad rap. Ochem sucks but it's not the teachers fault! You get out what you put in. I'm a 'just get by' student. Study at the last minute etc, not some nerd ass. Seriously, not a bad teacher at all. Never opened/bought book.

Come to lecture, come to lab, do the homework, study --> pass the class. Most of the people whining about this class don't do what it takes to pass. On Fridays, the average attendance was 15 (out of 100 people). Really, all you have to do is try. If you put forth the effort, there is no reason that you can not pass this class!

OMG i loved taking notes. especially the endless powerpoints that were rewritten every MWF. Labs were basically just show up and she would basically show you how to do it all. Too easy!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Hermann is awesome! If you print the powerpoints & actually go to class, there is no reason you should get less than a B. The homework is online & you get 2 tries on each problem. If you miss it the first time, email her office, she will tell you exactly how to fix it. The class itself is boring, but doable. Tests are hard, don't wait to study!
