Proulx is very smart and clearly knows his stuff. He's super helpful outside of class, and cares that students do well. But...his test are pretty hard. I got in A because I did the workbook and put in a lot of time. His lectures are very clear, and I learned a lot in this class, probably more than in any other econ class at UCSB.

Even those his tests are kinda hard, if you do the workbook problems and understand them, you should do fine. He explains things really well, but if you have a hard time keeping up or don't get the homework, get some help at CLAS. Proulx is entertaining in class. I thought he was funny.

I seriously suggest that you study with groups and go to CLAS all the time. This class took up most of my study time. The final is worth 185 and the median was 92. Practice quiz in WB n on website, more helpful than Test Bank. Good Luck.

Although Econ 100B is not an easy class, Prof. Prouxl gave us a clear lecture. If you read the book or powerpoint, review your note, do the workbook and old exam problems, it is not hard to get A. My friend got A+ AND I got A. May be some students do not like him, but trust your abilities and do not miss a great teacher. Good luck !

I took this class the same time as 101, which made Proulx look like the best teacher ever. The material is going to be hard no matter who teaches it and Proulx actually tried to do a good job. I found that going to lecture was important, except that his examples are SO much easier than anything on his tests. Get the practice tests from CLAS.

This is a hard class and Proulx doesn't make it any easier by assigning ridiculously hard questions. The lectures are pretty worthless as he does the easiest examples possible. The plusses are he does speak english and he had a decent curve. He is a weird dude and his knowledge of colors is somewhat disturbing

this guy is hard. his tests are kinda long. he expects us to finish 25 problems in 80 mins (summer school), and he only explains the easiest problems in class. i hope he would go over the harder problems. dont take him.

This is a hard course and you will have to study more than you did for 100B -- that has nothing to do with Proulx. He knows his stuff and his lectures are worth going to, but basicly you need to do all the practice problems you can. Don't waste time the midterms are every other week and a lot of material is covered in each.

He Picks some tough questions for the exams. The final was a lot harder than the midterms. KNOW how to do the practice problems from clas and the workbook problems and you should do ok. Hes a very wierd professor who loves his colors.

He is not the worst professor here. If you want to do well in his class go to CLAS get the practice tests and most importantly do the workouts assigned not just the quizzes and you will get an A or B. He is challenging but those that actually open the book and do not try to learn from osmosis will do fine.
