Dr. Snelling is an amazing professor and is ALWAYS willing to help students outside of class. He comes off as a little intimidating at first but he is one of the most helpful professors I've had. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TIME TO READ THE LECTURES AHEAD OF CLASS, MAKE THE TIME!!! You HAVE to give this class a lot of outside attention, which I did not do.

Although Snelling is a really tough professor, his class is worth taking. He really pushes you to your limit and shows you how hard you can really work. Showing up to his class is crucial though. If you are moving on to higher sciences, I definitley recommend taking his class.

A more dynamic environment would have efficiently helped students learn better than the professor standing at the front of the class reading off power point slides. He seems condensing and intimidating so no one asks questions or speaks at all during his lecture. Math problems were hard to learn because he would just click through examples.

One of the best instructors I have had at Vol State. He teaches you everything you need to know for the tests. Not only will one leave with a fundamental understanding of chemistry; one will leave with mathematical and scientific knowledge not required by the course, but is presented to better prepare one for the college ahead.

He's tough and you have to study! However, he gives you study guides with the problems worked out for you and his tests are practically the same thing. He's also strict on being punctual. His clocks are the"right" time always. Late to class? Counted absent. Late to lab? No quiz for you. Late/miss 6 times? Point subtracted from final grade and so on

You have to work in order to get a good grade in his class. DO NOT ever miss class you'll lose the chance for extra credit and your comprehension of that chapter. Very helpful. Explained to me why I got questions wrong in tests. Overall excellent teacher.

Professor Snelling's class was difficult. He gives you a cd that has all of his exams on it and I recommend you use that like it's your life support. If you look over his PowerPoints and the cd you will place yourself in a position to pass his class. Work hard and you will be rewarded.

This man is a master of his field. He is going to present the material with utmost clarity and professionalism. That said, his tests are quite specific and challenging. It's truly nothing you cannot handle. Pay attention to his fast paced lectures, allocate ample study time outside of class and you will pass his class. Attend class!

People who think he is a tough teacher have obviously only been to community college. He is ever more helpful and interesting than anyone at UT or UT Martin. Show up, pay attention and learn your practice exams and you will be fine. Accept his idiosyncrasies and embrace his personality. Never, ever, leave a blank question on a test.

The tests are short so you really have to understand what he is teaching, however, he is very good at explaining the material and you need to work to problems in the book if you still do not understand. He is a good teacher, though.

Great professor! Very funny and opinionated in class. Interesting professor because he's actually worked in the chemistry. The practice tests are like study guides, they'll point you in the right direction but don't just try and memorize them. Understand what is going on and you'll be fine. Dimensional analysis will save your life in this class.

Dr. Snelling is one of the greatest professors I have ever had. I had him for Chem 1 and 2 and his lectures are AMAZING!!!! He is the real deal and has so much experience in the field. He teaches with such ease and you can ask him any question and he will know the answer! He is the best! And any future chemist should want to be like him!!!

I came into this class thinking that i wasn't going to get an A or even a B. This teacher explains things very well in my opinion, and he gives you a CD with sample exams, DO the sample exam! Its almost the same exact as the test! I procrastinate on studying and still have gotten over B's on all the exams. He also drops your lowest exam grade! Yay!

Dr. Snelling isn't easy, but he's clear about what he expects from students. Practice exams are very similar to the real exam but he makes changes that make sure you really understand the material. He's always available to help students. Most people don't like him because of his attitude but he's actually really funny, talk to him outside of class.

Snelling is a fantastic professor. If you study the practice tests he gives you and labs, you will do great in his class. You will also learn a lot from his lectures if you pay attention. The labs can be difficult at times, just make sure you stay organized and focused. Also be ready for the ACS final and really dedicate some time to study for it.

DO NOT TAKE HIS LAB UNLESS YOU ARE A CHEMISTRY PRODIGY! He grades incredibly harshly on his labs, taking off up to 10 points for small errors. Additionally, you will not get credit for a lab unless you turn in your data before class is over.
