I think Dr. Shuey is wonderful. She is funny and tries to help you maintain as much as the info as possible. I think her classes are full of good info. Go to class, take good notes, study and the tests aren't bad at all! I was half a point away from an A so that kind of sucked. So the half point system is pretty crappy!

I think everyone's being way too hard on her. She just wants you to know the information. Yes I will admit her tests are hard but she doesn't want you to sit down and memorize it. She wants to to be able to explain it and truly know what it means. It will help you out in the long run.

Dr. Shuey really is a great professor and she cares about her students...That's why she has high expectations - because she wants us to know the stuff. You have to work hard to do well in her classes but they are not impossible and if you do the work you will learn a lot.

She is inconsistent with her gradings. She uses 0.5 point-deduction system when grading and that can be annoying. She will not give you an answer if you ask her class questions. She'll make you find that answer yourself. She will talk over you in class when you are trying to make a point. She needs to be retired.

After trying everything in my power, with her two classes it was almost impossible to get an A, which sucks. Let me tell you, even if you are on her good side, does not mean she will help you more or give you a better grade. I have no suggestions, just grin and get through the rest of the semester. and comm and aging is NOT EASY AND NOT AN EASY A!!

All these posts are pretty old when maybe she was nice, which seemed to be the consensus, but let me tell you, shuey is close to the devil. She is not helpful at all and she cannot justify her grading and won't try to either. I hated every single class that I had with her, thank god there are no more! She can't really be avoided- tread lightly

She is very funny, pleasant, and professional in SPPA. She is a very intelligent professor. She seemed fair in grading unlike someone else in her department. Her Jeopardy practice quiz is something else. Overall I like her. She includes humor in her classes and that made classes less tense. Unlike another professor in her department.

I like her much better now that I am done with my masters degree. She's willing to answer questions. Her classes were soooo hard-and I would avoid taking her courses if possible. You can bomb her exams though and still get a B in class because of all the little projects she makes you do. She's quirky and she loves DOGS.

I definately wouldnt say she is the hardest prof in the dept. She definately can be a B---h though! DO not get on her bad side. She really does favor some people though and that makes students feel uncomfortable.
