The best professor I've had at Auburn University. His ability to reach beyond the course material to clarify the subject is astonishing. He cares about his students and wants them to learn about the organisms and their life history. Test are straight from the notes and everything is straightforward. Does not trick students.

My all time favorite professor at Auburn. He always has interesting relevant stories he tells during lecture that help cement the info in your head. You do have to know literally everything in your notes and course pack for tests but its a very interesting class and lab is awesome.

He's an excellent lecturer. Does things old school, using the whiteboard and diagrams rather than powerpoints. Lecture tests are manageable. Lab can kill you. Stay on top of it, get the project done, and memorize the specimens! I recommend taking comparative anatomy before this class, it gives you a huge leg up taxonomy wise

Dr. Guyer is a great professor. He seems to genuinely care that you learn herpetology and he's willing to go an extra mile to help you. His tests are hard and the lab exams are kind of insane but at least the actual lecture and lab are helpful and, dare I say, the lab is fun! Chris Murray is a great GTA.

Dr. Guyer is one of the best teachers I have had at Auburn. He talks slowly so that he can say everything right. He gets very enthusiastic about his field and he tells some pretty funny stories. I loved his class. He is also a fair grader. If you can choose between Vert/Invert, take him for Vert because he is amazing.

It's a tough class that prepares you for the amount of memorization you're going to encounter if you continue with an animal based major. Luckily, Dr. Guyer genuinely gets excited about what he's teaching and is very helpful with any questions you may have.

Really interesting class. You learn a lot of cool stuff about a lot of cool animals. Tests are pretty hard, you really have to know all the material and old tests have little in common with the current test. All exam material is from the notes so the textbook is unnecessary unless you just want to have it. Lab is a lot of fun, practicals are hard.

Time flew by so fast in that class. No need for a book really. I learned so much in this class. He is very, very helpful during office hours and genuinely cares about your concerns and progress in his class. Do well in lab though, because his exams are tough. He is a somewhat picky grader but a B is easily attainable.

Possibly the best teacher ive ever had , EVER. The tests are tough in a sense, very possible to have an A overall, the labs are simple. Alot to learn, But very easy to make An A in labs. Daves a great TA, old tests would help alot. Guyers pretty much the man when it comes to verts..

THE best zoology professor at Auburn! Every zoology student MUST take one of Guyer's classes or they will not get a complete science education. The tests are difficult but if you go talk to him during his office hours he will help you make sense of any questions!!!
