Comment:
Offensive? Yes. Hilarious? Meh. He has his moments but it's mostly just inappropriate jokes that fall flat. He spends too much time talking about nothing. Be ready to listen to a ton of bs between material that is actually relevant to the course. I guess he has tenure because there is nothing he won't say in class.

Let me start out by saying: Kerth is the most beautifully offensive teacher at stony brook. He hates our generation's ideals, but loves us. If you can take the criticism you will love the class. he teaches the class with passion and knowledge hardly seen. Take notes on what he says, record lectures, pay attention and youll get an A.

He's hilarious and the class is fair, doesn't require you to analyze anything just know the plot, which he goes through from beginning to end in detail. Tests are not multiple choice which kind of sucks

He can be offensive. If you like that brand of humor, you'll like him - you'll know after the first class. Exams are fill in the blank. All details, no analysis. Attendance is not mandatory, but useful. He literally goes through what happens in the book step by step and points out details you may miss. He really knows the subject well.

He's hilarious, but don't make the mistake of taking him because of that alone. It takes a certain kind of person to be interested in the material, and you almost have to be interested to do well. Tests are very detailed, and he gives no study guides... If you're not good with fine details, and you don't really like literature, I'd avoid this one.

Very hilarious but don't take it if you get offended by the remarks he makes. Lectures are mostly him summarizing what happened in each assigned reading, but the details he gives in lectures are on the tests sometimes, so take notes on everything he says! Tests are simple but detailed questions based on what happened in the book, so read the book!

WARNING: If you're easily offended don't take this class. This man knows his stuff and his so interested in the material. Make sure you read everything or it will be difficult to understand what's going on. 3 non-cumulative exams WITH A CURVE. It's impossible to fail this class. As insulting as he is, he's a really nice guy and is crystal clear.

I can't believe how easily people will accept the inappropriate, tasteless, sh*t that comes out of this man's mouth as "humor". He is a classless, horrible person who should know better than to treat others with such disrespect. You are a professor for Christ's sake, show some professionalism!

First I thought strict/ slightly outrageous. But he's really interesting/fun, not afraid to speak his mind...at all. He'll also be completely inappropriate but he doesn't mean anything by it. His tests are decent, you need to study. He's also really smart, he knows this, n rlly likes what he's teaching, You'll see ;)

2 midterms and a final, short answer exams with very intricate details. if you do poorly on one midterm you are basically screwed. no extra credit opportunities or hw. highly regret taking it.

Took 141 after 241, just for fun. If you're interested in history, this is story-time for you. Tells you the first class that he makes very outrageous jokes so be forewarned. You can tell its just a facade for the 3rd-row-and-back who arent as interested because after class he is extremely nice, helpful and a real gentleman. Take lots of notes.

He's the only professor I had at Sh*ttybrook that wasn't afraid to speak his mind on everything. His classes are not for those who take offense easy - because by class 4 he had probably hit every thing you could make fun of about anyone in the room. AWESOME PROF! Oh yeah, his exams are pretty exact so make sure you take good notes.

Funny teacher! At first I did not like him, but he grows on you. He makes alot of smart comments, so if your soft do not take him. His tests are wierd, but easy if you go to every class. Attendance is not mandatory, but I strongly recommend it or you will get a bad grade.

Awesome. He is highly entertaining and his class is like a college story time. Tests are easy due to amazing curve. Has no problem sharing his likes and dislikes, and if you do not have a sense of humor, do not take this class.

Took mvl 141 also, pretty much the same as 241. Take notes, read, laugh, easy A. His exam questions may ask for very precise details that he mentioned in class though so you should pretty much write down everything he says other than his crazy ass jokes
