Decided everyone needed a NEW review. Mimi is CRAZY, she'll be understanding and then the next day she will hate the world. In class, she has good lectures but will argue with you and I've seen her humiliate students in class. Her tests "come from the book" but they are worded oddly. Attendance in mandatory, points off if you miss.

Comment:

Tests come straight from the chapters, but overall easy class if you study. Book is a must. She isn't afraid to speak the truth and is very unpredictable, which makes for an interesting class. Attendance is required, but would still definitely take the class again.

this was my favorite class i had. i took it as a first year freshman. i always looked foward to going to see mimi i never knew what she was going to do in clss that day. she is a VERY good teacher. you just have to be sure and actually read your book and pay attention in class if you do that you will be fine. i would recomend mimi

I have read that many think Mimi is opinionated. Mimi is simply giving FACTS and is very passionate about sociology. She is a wonderful instructor and as long as you attend class and READ AND STUDY the book, test and writing assignments are a cinch. If you want an easy "A" and are easily offended by scientific facts, take someone else.

This was the worst class I have taken at UCA. I don't know what her problem was this semester, but she was just plain crazy! She was very hard to follow, she yelled and screamed. I am sorry, but I just don't learn that way. As far as being a person, I wish her all the best. But when it comes to teaching she needs to seperate her personal life.

WOW!I am gonna be honest leasst favorite class! she kept changing the syllabus..NO STRUCTURE! LEARNED ALOT but way to much stress, she only had about 300pts possible but 100 was straight opinion from peers and her! she gave 100 optional pts which i did still got a C...LOVE HER! DISLIKE THIS CLASS!TEST WERE SPECIFIC GAVE STATS OUT OF A MILLION!

Some people do not like Mimi because she points out uncomfortable social conditions. Get over it, that's her job! She tells you exactly how to get an "A," read the book. Personally she seems like a really nice person. If you respect her she will respect you. Don't try to argue with her, you won't win, and it will make class so much harder for you.

Mimi is an overall good teacher. She is very opinionated but a lot of what she says is true. You must read the textbook, never miss class. For the most part the only people who take offense to what she is sayin are those who know well its true. I personally feel she should have went over the text more and had more class discussions. She's AWESOME

She's histrionic, belligerent & hypocritical. Her class completely revolves around her opinions. She rants excessively about white men and brown-noses minorities. She typically brings personal conflict between students to other classes and publicly belittles them. The class is pointless and you're bound to be offended. It's an easy grade though.

Mimi is a nice person. Her class is really about her opinion and what she thinks. she wants you to think outside the box but everyhing she say just make you want to speak your mind. I would not take her class if I knew it would of been like that. You have to read the book because that is the test.

She is a huge hypocrite. She says here goal is to get you to think outside the box, even though she herself is in one of her own. Lectures are pointless, but you can't miss class. Mimi is a sweetheart, she is very opinionated, which is sometimes frustrating, but she will really make you think. It's necessary to read the book, but it's pretty interesting. Plus, if you're a minority, especially gay, she'll love you. Overall, she's amazing. Conservatives should take this class, it'll open your eyes.

I love Mimi as a person. That being said, her class is completely ridiculous. The tests are literally made by the textbook publishers and directly coincide with any minor detail the text might contain. She requires you to come to class even though her lectures end up just pissing almost everyone off. Memorize the book. Her lectures mean nothing!

I was honestly disappointed with this class. It's as if all she tries to do is make you feel uncomfortable or offend someone, rather than teach something. The tests were from the book, which was never discussed during class. You have to attend class, but notes don't matter, so you are stuck. Just don't waste your time with this class.

She reminded me of my grandma who is very opinionated. But it was fun going to class and everyone in my class would predict what they think she is gonna say that day. Sometimes she will be talking and all the sudden shout a word out really loud and it almost gave me a heart attack a couple times since I was in front. great person and fun teacher!
