Dr Kline was an awesome teacher. His class was my favorite to go to because he would lecture a majority of the time but it would actually be interesting! He uses a ton of pop culture references and hes a very open minded individual. He grades on a few things but lets you redo papers if you received bad grades. 10/10 would take again

Hands down, my favorite professor. Funny, engaging, enlightening, and really just a very considerate person that cares about his students. If I could take every class with him, I would. My respect for him made me want to try harder. His assignments are so intricately designed to where I absorbed and will know the material forever. Just amazing.

Kline is a boss. If I could take all my classes from him, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Made abstract ideas understandable without dumbing them down. Class discussions were a blast. He's a funny dude and relates to his students in a very genuine way. Nothing but positive things to say about him.

Every moment your doing something other than talking through a close-reading of one of the Canterbury Tales, you're missing out on an opportunity for your life to be AMAZINGLY transformed, for those 2.5 hours and in saecula saeculorum. Do whatever you can to take this class! You're welcome.

I found myself hanging on almost every word that came out of professor Kline's mouth. He is such an enchanting speaker. This class is chalked full of difficult reading, but you will learn tons. Would recommend forming peer cohorts for mutual study and support. I will definitely take Kline every chance I can.

Dr. Kline was an incredible teacher, and I look forward to taking classes with him again in the future. As head of the English Department he has a great deal of responsibility, so don't be surprised if he is slow to return papers. He does however answer emails very promptly and is eager to work with students who genuinely want to learn. Brilliant.

Brilliant. While Kline is a Medievalist, he is also the most knowledgeable theorist in the department. Widdicombe and Kline make a great combo in the Eng dep.

Excellent professor! Wry, clever sense of humor. Makes medieval texts interesting and accessible. I'm not an English major, but if I were, I'd try to take as many classes from him as I could.

Dr. Kline is bright and his lectures are interesting. However, his pedagogical agenda was so specific that it left very little room for standard academic debate in the classroom discussions or exploration in the written assignments. Papers took weeks to grade, and final papers were not graded and returned, even by the next semester.

I don't agree that his grading is biased. He's a very difficult teacher, but fair. I do not remember him ever interrupting us and even encouraged us to speak even when we were unsure of what we were talking about. He's obviously very passionate about the subject material and will do anything to help you understand that. Incredible professor!

Fun guy. Grades hard, but very good at getting students interested in literature, and he's not some stuffy, ivory-tower intellectual. Can be irreverent about literature at times (okay, a lot, but that makes it fun). A bit too postmodernist for me, but I'd take him again.

I took an online class with him. Thought he was horrible at replying to me if I had a concern. Hard grader. I wouldn't recommend him for online. Hopefully he is a better professor in person because my impression on him as of right now is not a good one.

Dr. Kline delivers a critical and relevant syllabus; his classes prepare students for graduate level studies. One of the more satisfying elements of Kline's classes are his refusal to "dumb down" the texts into reductive PowerPoint presentations. If you remain humble and engaged, you will get so much from Kline's classes.
