He is a great teacher. Very accommodating if you miss a class or need help with things outside of math class like scheduling classes or study tactics. The tests are hard but he makes it clear what is on the tests and gives practice problems for each section

Very funny and engaging, especially for a pre-calculus class. Explains things in a way that makes them easier to understand versus just what's in the textbook. Tests are hard, but he clearly defines what will be on them and will dedicate a day of class to questions on the material if the class needs it.

One of the best professors I've ever had, and easily the best math teacher I've had. I would for sure take his class again. Only real issue would be tests, and if you actually put in the work, you'll do well. I highly recommend taking any of his courses.

I had him for Math 100 which was the Aleks program and it was a self taught course. he is very nice and helpful. Really good at explaining things and will make sure that you understand what is being taught. Very funny guy also! I would have him as a professor again if I get the chance. He's a great professor. One of my favorites.

Dan is an amazing professor, he's what other professors should aim to be. Math is hard, but Dan explains it in a way that you can understand it. You can miss 3 classes, but if you talk to him and have a valid excuse (job interview) he'll let a few more slide. Very smart man, funny, but his tests are very hard. Makes you work for your grade.

I had Dan for math 100. It was probably the easiest A ever. He's really funny and easy to get along with. We used the Aleks program which was the first semester being used so it was always on the computer. There was really no teaching, it was more of working at your own pace but if you needed help he was always there.

Dan is the best professor I've come across at IUP. I've never met someone who's so willing to help, and honestly clarifies everything. He makes the material very understandable, gives you everything you need to succeed. Just study!!! Quizzes about every week. He makes class bearable--he's a real character! TAKE HIM

Let's face it, math is never the most exciting subject to be taking. However, Dr. Burkett tries his absolute hardest to make it just that. He is EXTREMELY clear, makes jokes and is very helpful. Most importantly, he is fair. He always takes questions before class and would even exclude a section if we as a class felt overwhelmed before an exam.

He is the best math instructor I've ever had. He tries his best to make sure everyone understands what he's teaching. He can be arrogant at times and his tests are anything but easy but, if you pay attention and practice, you'll be fine.

Burkett is a great professor, he really explains each step well and enjoys the subject. If you go to him durring office hours he is extremely helpful. However the tests are veryy difficult and unfair. One test we had only 5 people finished in time, he said it only took him a half hour to take the test, well we don't have doctorates in mathematics

Dan is awesome. He is a bit harder than most professors, but if you are willing to put in the work, he will help you out in any way he can. He makes class fun and interesting. You will always leave laughing! He is very good at explaining things so you don't have to memorize everything! Take him, promise he won't let you down!

Burkett was GREAT! He was always super friendly and made math fun. I enjoyed his class and would take any other class by him I could. His exams were not that hard and the final is NOT comprehensive. I loved this class.

This class is hard. The math is simple but the concepts are confusing. He bases your grade off exams, quizzes, and homework - and there's not that much homework or quizzes. Cumulative final. No way around it this class is just hard and Burkett doesn't give your grade much of a chance.
