Poor time management for a tight schedule. He seems really into the subject matter but hes not the best lecturer. Pray for a good TA since they write part, if not all, of the exams and they'll be a lot more helpful than the prof. The class is curved and the textbook is amazing. I'm not great at self-learning, but the book holds your hand.

Ferenc is literally the most disorganized teacher I have ever had. He rambles on and on, sometimes skips material and says you can just read it in the textbook. We were supposed to cover 12 chapters in this class, but at this rate we'll only cover 4. If you actually want to learn anything related to the published curriculum, take another teacher.

My best experience at UC davis. Took 9D with him over the summer, hilarious, super kind, approachable and really cares. Didnt give any quizzes and just a midterm and a final which sound bad but exams are open book, and use problems from the book on the exams. 9/10 would recommend

His lectures are tangential at best, boring to listen to, and not relevant to the subject. Insists on having quizzes but cannot hold them on their date. Cant hold tests on their assinged dates. Doesn't write his own tests, so pray your TA is kind. Has no clue where he is in the textbook, cannot explain what will be on test. Lost. Failure.

Lectures are long and taught more in the style of a tutorial. The course is like an entire narrative. Very theoretical. Light on the calculations. The consequence of such a relaxed instruction is that it looks disorganised from the outside. Keep y our ears open and listen to the content and you'll be fine.

Worst professor I've ever had. Needed a new standard for bad teacher because of him. Book was good though. Written by Randy Harris, so you should probably take his class instead.

Rambles a lot. Class would suck if I hadn't already taken a modern physics class. Seems genuinely enthusiastic about the class but I did most of the learning in the discussion section with the TA. Don't fall into the trap of thinking you don't have to study because the tests are open book.

Rambles for days: you will be bored in his class. Never does any example problems. Attendance not "mandatory" but quizzes on somewhat random days, with material occasionally from 3 weeks back. Open book quizzes/tests make the text a necessity. He does at least seem interested in his field, but you don't get any depth.

Instructor was not helpful as he never answers emails from students as others said. It is true. He does not reply to email. If you have a problem, he will not help you. He simply ignore your emails.

While he's no Randy Harris, I still enjoyed the class. I found lectures interesting, as he actually cares about the material, just that the tests reflected discussion session and not lecture...which was weird.

Horrible teacher. Lectures you to sleep, and just tells you to read the book which doesn't help at all. No solutions manual for the book. Let's you use book on tests, however not useful at all.

open book/notes on everything; most of the quiz probs and solns could be found in the textbook, midterms were a complete joke. material got harder and his lectures got more unorganized and shifty. final killed the class cuz the TA contributed his part.
