Comment:

While he is a mostly nice guy and will socialize with students a bit, he is an awful. I'm not exaggerating when I say he's the worst teacher I've ever had. His lectures/notes are difficult to understand and he makes mistakes somewhat frequently. A single hw problem can take over 7 hrs to solve. Exams are like riddles.

This is the most difficult course I have ever taken. You will work, and he expects nothing less than your complete dedication to the topic. In all likelihood, you will not get a good grade. Get over it. You'll learn a lot and you'll think he's evil and he might even make you cry. If you're passionate, this won't hold you back. Godspeed!

In all fairness, he's a smart guy and definitely knows his stuff. That being said, however, he expects you to do work that's way over your head, especially in an undergrad class. Homework relates in no way to the test in some cases, especially the final...which had no connection to any of the homework whatsoever.

Mean-spirited (though appears otherwise), terrible at explaining things, does not keep a consistent course policy for grading or testing standards, assigns intensely hard homework that may take 18-40 hours of work to complete (I'm serious), writes test questions in no way relevant to material in class or in homeworks, and holds grudges en masse.

He is a really great guy and quite funny but when it comes to his class its completely different. He teaches advanced topics then tests on stuff that's supposed to be easier but since we never learnedit the first time, it's hard. Don't expect to do well in the class unless you can devote more time then there is in a day to it. Go to help sessions!

Babbled on in class about smoking, fondue...rarely something thermo related. Exams covered material not covered (or not covered in detail) in class. Rarely assigned homework. However, the final was very fair...it was all our old exams put together, plus a section of stuff we covered after our last exam.

I agree with several of these people that he is a nice guy and not as nice of a teacher. He expects students to sink or swim and for a intro Thermo course that isn't good. But for a higher level course I guess it was fair(er) game. Expect to be frustrated. Truth of the matter, despite some worse accusations, 2/3 of his Thermo I class passed.

He was probably the worst professor I have ever had at rolla. He is very unhelpful and does not answer questions. He is lazy and unorganized. He never assigns homework that is relavent so the test are impossible.
