Loved his class! A sweet old man who is very approachable. He talks about history as if he was there and really knows his stuff. Fairly easy marker. Sometimes hard to follow along as he rarely uses a textbook but the class is totally worth taking. He brings in lots of artifacts, has brought in cookies before and spent a whole class singing songs.

I was priviliged to take this course with Prof Roberts in my 1st year. He makes learning fun and history enjoyable by adding interesting anecdotes and jokes to his lectures. This was the only course I used to look forward to. He is the type of Professor who looks to help all his students to succeed and he makes you passionate about History.

Best prof ever. He made the class extremely interesting and is very clear on what he wants/expects us to know or write about in the term paper and final. I got 83 for my final mark, even though I didn't study for the final until the day of. With good studying you can easily get over 90. Final exam is open book and can be same topic as term paper.

Wow! probably the best prof i've had at UBC--kind, helpful, approachable, interesting material that he knows very well, good reading list, and class participation. I wish he taught more courses at UBC. Well worth the 3 hour night lectures. If you can take this course with Prof Roberts, do it!!!

Extremely helpful and dedicated prof! He is clear in his lectures and he ensures to repeat anything important pertaining to the final exams. All you have to do is put in minimal effort and you are almost guaranteeed at least an A-. His English accent makes listening to his lectures a little more enjoyable too ;)

Wonderful professor. He gave each student two pages of typed comments for our term papers! Extremely friendly and helpful. Maybe a little more discipline would be nice... there's too many students doing Facebook in class which is really irritating at times.

Absolutely wonderful experience. I wish he taught other history classes, Id take them without a second thought. Gave me 2 typed pages worth of comments for my paper- amazing. genuinely wanted every student to do well. Went to his office hour and talked a good 45 minutes, god I love this guy =)
