It is a little bit rougher in the summer time, just because the amount of information. Just memorize from the get go. Teach your self, don't ask questions, or he will be upset.

A great professor! Provides ample examples and practice to do well on his exams. If you do the practice problems many times you will get As on your exams. Don't skip class so u don't miss out on EC! Everything you learn, you can actually retain very well! 10/10

Dr. Ketcha is about your best bet for Organic Chem at WSU. If you need it for MCAT prep I don't know how helpful it is, but if you need to get through it, take it with him. If you can get your hands on the old exams, you pretty much have a copy of the exam. Ask him about his favorite movies and tv shows for extra credit on exams.

Took the summer course, so class time was extended though most of the time class ended at least 20 minutes every class. To study for exam, just practice the problem set and it is very similar to the exams. Gets off topic a lot, and asks a few certain students to answer questions, because he knows them.

Pure memorization exercises. Not helpful in after hours. He is condescending when asked questions. Results in many people being afraid to ask because they don't want to be mocked for not understanding. Little explanation on how his class relates to the medical field, which what the majority of the students are pursuing, not helpful for MCAT prep.

Toughest class I've ever taken. Problem sets & lecture alone do not prepare you for exams. Expect to spend a lot of time studying on your own & going to SI sessions. Do not let the first exam's easiness fool you! Semi-helpful in office hours, but also gives off a vibe like he wants students to do poorly. Normally an A-student, barely got a C.

If you want to memorize and then dump, that's what his class is. No explanation on why we are memorizing or what it means, just that we need to memorize it. That's the whole class and the parts he wants to learn are messy, incoherent, and nonsensical. No book either. Just his ppts and a workbook. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT TO LEARN. Try Turnball.

He does not teach. Do not take him if you are a pre med student. You will learn absolutely nothing. NOTHING. His exams are from his notes, it's super easy to get an A but it will not help you on the MCAT. I do not recommend him.

Uses humor to engage with students and to give students time to digest the material. He gives clear examples and while he expects memorization, that really is the best way to learn the material. He is very helpful during office hours and genuinely cares about his students. Do the practice problems he gives you and review the powerpoints.

Dr. Ketcha is an incredible O-chem professor! He takes a difficult subject and makes it easy to learn. Very clear, his power points are extremely helpful, and if you can find can find exams of a student who had him in the past, the class should be pretty easy for you. As a person, Dr. Ketcha is very kind and extremely fair.

Do the concept tests in the notes, I hate printing off notes but it is a must for this class, be prepared for him to randomly call on you in class he will, If you stop him during lecture and ask questions he will go over it in detail until you say you understand. I will defiantly take him again I took Dr. Field the first time and he was awful.

Prof Ketcha is an awesome and fair professor. If you pay attention in class, practice and MEMORIZE the problem sets you WILL do well in the class. He explains material if confused, I never once touched the text book, just studied every night after learning something new! Take him!

Not a good instructor. He made no sense in lecture and went way too fast through material. Stuff got crammed in so tight that he usually finished 20 min early like he was breezing through a review every class. Still, if you go through the slides hardcore, then it isn't too hard to pull off an A. Just don't expect a good learning experience.

He doesn't really use the book. He goes way too fast through lecture slides and you have to keep up with studying or you will easily fall behind. That being said, I studied a week before each test and was able to ace the material and drop the final. It depends how much time you want to spend copying his lecture notes and doing every problem.

You really do need to study the problem sets and if you do that you will be fine. There is a ton of memorization. If you can memorize a ton of stuff you will be fine. He doesn't really explain why reactions happen the way they do though.

Dr. Ketcha is an ok guy, loves to make cheesy jokes, but not such a great teacher/explainer of O chem, coming from someone who is LOST on this subject. However, his exams come almost straight from the problem sets and class examples. Know those and you should be okay. Don't expect to fully understand the material unless you teach yourself

If you study his worksheets, the tests are easy. However I am a chem major and I don't like the way he teaches-he does not explain WHY enough and he glosses over things. He doesn't seem like an academic person-talks randomly about TV and lets people out of class early-does not make me respect him and doesn't act like a chemistry professor.
