Dr. Martin is such a sweet and respectful guy, but he can be very confusing. You can tell he's really smart, but he doesn't always communicate his ideas in a way that makes a lot of sense. Also, he gives a LOT of assignments and they can be pretty confusing. Definitely willing to help out his students though.

Dr. Martin is boring and not good at getting grades up very fast. There are some group assignments and A LOT of discussion. His voice is very monotone and could fall asleep to. This is an easy A class, with easy work.

This class literally consisted of reading something in-between each class and then going to class and talking about it with everyone. So pointless and easy. The hardest part was making yourself go when there were so many more productive things you could be doing. daily reading response, no tests, 3 papers.

He makes you do lots of pointless group work in class, but that makes it easy, you just have to be in class to do it. Doesn't keep track of reflection grading, just assumes you did it most of the time.

Dr. Martin requires a fair amount of in-class group work and numerous journal reflections. He's particular when it comes to grading, and he has a certain way of doing things. If you have a question, he's very approachable even though he can be a bit awkward.

Dr. Martin is a good man but he sucks as a teacher. What he does makes no sense in a logical way. If you want an easy class then take his but if you miss a class you don't get points for your assignment you emailed him because you have to be there to get a grade.

I really enjoyed Dr. Martin's class. English and writing have never been enjoyable for me, but I really excelled because he gives you a lot of freedom. Very approachable and an overall nice guy.

EN 1140 was one of the most challenging and yet rewarding class that I have taken thus far in college. Though Dr. Martin tends to be extremely harsh and picky when it comes to grading, I walked out of the class feeling extremely confident and at ease with my writing abilities.

The class was not helpful to my English education at all! It is a lot of busy work done for nothing. If Dr. Martin didn't like you or your style, then you can forget and "A" and maybe even a "B". I believe personal issues of his own were too involved when he was grading papers and projects. I would not recommend taking him.
