Im pretty sure we only saw 2 ppts the entire semester. Very VERY unorganized. Rarely talked about material on the 2 exams bc of daily, 75 minute tangents, so you have to memorize it all yourself and hope that you hit all the right topics. Overall, very easy A if youre good at cramming, one 2pg group paper, and final paper was 4 pg.

He is so funny! His assignments aren't hard , but he will forget to tell you when they are assigned so you should check blueline often. He gives back great feedback on speeches and great help when he is assessable. He will get off topic a lot, but it is always interesting.

Not difficult. However, Dr. Birkholt rarely returned emails. The course organization was kinda confusing. The syllabus that was posted was even from a different professor! There are 2 major speeches around 7 minutes each & at least 3 people must be present for each speech, 8 quizzes, a 2-3 pg reflection paper, and 4 discussions each week.

I took this professor for the required Comm 101 course. The course material was often unclear. No returned e-mails. I think he entered grades twice throughout the semester, so we couldn't figure out how to adjust. Not to mention, it's a public speaking class that is ONLINE. I learned nothing new about public speaking. I wouldn't recommend Birkholt.

He's a good guy, but I felt class was very unclear. He always went on tangents and lectured about random stuff then expected you to have a great speech for the next class. I wouldn't take him again.

Funny professor. Class consists of watching movies then take really easy quizzes next class period. Two 10-pg essays are hardest part but he grades easy (if you get your grade back that is). Doesn't lecture much but goes off on tangents when he does. We didn't use the textbook EVER (summer class, fall may be different). Easy, fun A & nice guy.

GREAT PROFESSOR. Easy class very hands on with an online test that was 5 questions. Argument and Debate was easy because of him and it helps you with your public speaking. He jokes around a lot and is very sarcastic. no papers. no reading from the book. very easy

He is passionate about speech and is truly here to help his students achieve a confident level of communication. Dr. Marty is an excellent professor. He is the competitive debate coach, so you would think he would grade speeches really difficultly, but he definitely does not. He understands that people in a beginning com class are not members of his debate team. He's funny, and his classes are never boring. You use the book for each of 2 tests, that's it.

My biggest issue was when a deadline was given for him to provide us something he never met the deadline and he did not give us our grades until well after the course ended. I will not take another course from him because of these two reasons.

Great guy! He'll cringe when he reads this but it's true. He is excellent at what he does-speaking. I would never want to debate against him! He can get off topic but it's always a fun tangent. He'll scare the crap out of you the first day but then he's pretty nice and fun. He does care about his students and he's an enjoyable personality.
