She is a great teacher and the assignments are not that bad. She teaches higher level art, so if you don't have much skill or practice in drawing, and thinking this will be an easy A class you can slack off in, think again. This class takes time outside as well and honestly, is not that bad. Very fun, would take again.

I had art 230 (figure drawing) and art 240 (drawing the human head) with Daphne. She is amazing! She gives great feedback and the drawing environment is super chill. I'm transgender and she was VERY great at using the correct name and pronouns too. 100/10, best professor at grossmont.

More of a classical setting (Make sure to silence your phone and attend all the classes), but has an innovative teaching style. She makes the long classes pass by quickly, and usually offers candy and plays music to entice students to come to class. Overall a lovely and friendly professor, and will take the whole class to the zoo. Take her!

Daphne was awesome. I go to Chico State but I took her for a summer class and it was well worth it. She gave back a good critic and really lets you explore your style and organize your time. Working outside of class time was crucial if you wanted your piece to look spiffy.

Utter waste of time and money. Did not teach, emailed YouTube links instead. Zero instruction from instructor. Made no distinction between those brand new to figure drawing & those doing it for years. Let students to talk disruptively while model posed, very distracting. Lost student art & forgot to collect research paper that required museum trip.

She is the worst art teacher I have ever had. She doesn't teach you anything. She's weird and instead of being friends with the students she has an aggressive attitude towards them for no apparent reason other than one-upmanship. She is like a middle school teacher going on and on about cell phones and wasting time.

Do NOT take this class for fun. She is like a highschool teacher. More videos and handouts than actual instruction. I have no idea how to shade anything but a circle. Gave us less than a week to draw 25 drawings (of the same boring subject over and over). NOT an "EASY A"- I got an A on nearly every assignment & quiz and she still gave me a B

Ask for help, and she will. Upbeat and entertaining. She taught techniques that improved my drawing. Liked videos sprinkled in. Didn't like quizzes, which were lists of words to memorize. Wasn't hard, just not meaningful. Overall, good class to take.

Boring. Boring boring boring. Her class was just lecture, watch a video, do this. I didn't really see the sweetness, she was very dull in my opinion, made a few jokes here and there, nothing that kept me to stay. I guess if you want an easy A take her class if you can suffer through the painfully long class.

Totally disliked the way we critiqued every time an assignment was completed. Everyone is made to say something they would fix about others work and what they like. It was a lot of long drawn out periods that felt like a waste of time because classmates did not have enough experience or knowledge of art or thought they were the better than the rest

AMAZING TEACHER!!! SO laid back, super talented and the kind of person I would like to know outside of a classroom. This class allowed for learning art basics as well as being creative. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Her class was a blast! She was very helpful. Easy to approach. Really nice and easy to joke with. Her assignments were pretty easy. Just do what she asks of you and you will do just fine. Not a lot of room for imagination, but it's not needed because she's helping you with basic drawing foundation. She helped me become a better artist.

Daphne makes assignments seem crystal clear. Attendance is mandatory and essential. No textbook required for this class/ taking notes is optional, but not many students do. Art supplies is key. You don't have to be an 'artist' to take this fun/educational class. Be sure to try your best--avoid slacking. Kind art professor and one of my favorites.

I thought the class was just ok. Not great, not horrible. She's nice enough... just don't expect compliments unless you're an amazing artist. She's not very helpful and at times can be kinda rude. However, she somehow brings out the best in people. I don't draw at all and even I had some amazing pieces in the end!
