Comment:

Lots of participation and group discussion because it is a flipped classroom. She really wants each of her students to do well, and you can just see how passionate she is about the topics. Her exams are fair and test the important course concepts. Gives a lot of small bonus points here and there too. 4 quizzes, 2 midterms, 1 final.

Bad Professor. I think she got her PhD after her bachelor degree, this make her level of knowledge as low as a master degree student. Graph theory is a very nice and easy class, but because of her, it's a very hard in CSULA. DO NOT TAKE HER "believe me"

Comment:

Dr. Liu is a fantastic teacher. She is very clear. Sometimes she goes a little slow and deliberate though but that's probably so that no one gets left behind. Her quizzes are easy and are a good way to keep up on material from week to week. The exams are much more difficult. She is a lenient grader and bumps up your final grade for attendance.

Comment:

Dr. Liu wasn't as bad a professor as some comments made her out to be. She's a very good professor for lower division courses and decent for the upper division ones. She does have an unusual approach and pace to teaching upper level math classes which might cause some to refrain from taking such courses with her. I wouldn't mind having her again.

Would lecture from the top of her head, so didn't have an outline of what to cover throughout the quarter so close to finals she would try to cover tons of material! would not recommend her at all. Take Shaheen or Krebs for 455! Will not answer hw questions at all.

In a proofs-based course, she's awful. My biggest complaint is that she will not help you with the homework problems you have to turn in, not even during her office hours. Wait-- isn't getting help what office hours are for? If you take a proofs-based class, go with Drs. Beer, Hoffman, Krebs, or Brookfield.

Dr. Liu is one of the best math professors I've had at CSULA. She is always so energetic and excited to teach the subject. She always comes to class prepared. If you do the homework, the quizzes/test are all easy. I never had to read the book. She explains things clearly. Very nice and helpful person. Would love to take her again!

I'm glad I had this professor. She's super passionate about teaching and math. HW not mandatory, but the quizzes/tests are (actual question), or based on some of the HW questions. Emails you your grades via email after each quiz/test. I would definitely take her again if I had to take another math class.

The class I took from her is very difficult, which made it feel like it's her problem. She explained everything very thoroughly, tried to answer everyone's question, used a variety of methods to illustrate concepts. Just that the course is too difficult (at least 70% of the class had D/F). Is it her fault?? Maybe partially or maybe not.

SHE IS AWESOME, i never had trouble studying on my own when i was in her class. she explains everything so good that u dont even need to bother to go to tutoring, or extra workshops. Her teching style is really interesting, and not boring at all. Try to take the class that is MTWTh.

She's very passionate about what she teaches, which makes her lectures interesting. Her tests are not too hard if you do the homework (not required) because quiz and test problems are similar to those.
