I found him to be rude, did not like him and as a result I did not enjoy the class. When I did my exit interview they asked who my favorite and least favorite professors were. I mentioned Dr Hoy as my least favorite professor.

Good teacher. Make sure you attend the FE reviews or lose a letter grade. Pick a good group the first day, or before the semester starts. Make SURE you don't have ANY slackers on board! Tests are a joke, but you haev to watch for tricky questions.

I really haven't had him in a class. But, I talked to him about being my Ph.D. supervisor. I found him totally rude for no reason! I am not sure if he was "Hiy" or not! But I was totally disappointed in him!

Tests were ridiculous. It didn't matter if you studied at all, and they were pure luck. Multiple choice with the same pointless question rephrased five times. If you didn't drink coffee before this class, you might want to consider it.

Random: that is how I'd sum up his tests. No ME class should have multiple choice tests with no partial credit. He was rarely available because he was running the department. Department heads should not teach. He needs to make more time for questions in class.

A very nice person !!! I was his TA in ME302 and he was very helpful and kind to me. He appreciates all the work you do for him. Its very easy to please Dr. Hoy. He is always willing to help students !!!

Dr. Hoy is a cancer on the ME department. His Senior Design class is horribly boring in lecture and excruciatingly picky about the project. Be prepared to loose all free time to deal with useless requirements from this fool.
