I thoroughly enjoyed Darrel's Java course. I learned a lot about coding, but spent a ton of time on the assignments. Java is an amazing language & he KNOWS the subject! He can be gruff (doesn't have much patience for lazy folks), but he is actually a VERY kind & caring professors. Layout: CodingAssignments, ChapterExams, Final Project.

Darrel has a well laid out course for database management that helps you really understand the course material, though he does make the class harder than it has to be ( Grades start at 70%, does not give out examples). He does offer extra credit and has useful feedback. He is a big fan of the Socratic method of teaching.

Loves to remind you of how great he is. Loves to hide assignments. For one that is a self proclaimed computer genius, the way he has his online class room is confusing and messy. He has assignments scattered throughout his site and in the "normal" location of assignments. The course itself is not hard, he makes it EXTREMELY irritating. AVOID!!!

Darrel hosts probably the hardest class you'll take on the CIS degree path, Database Management, CIS275. The rumors you hear about this class are somewhat true, but lucky for us, he grades on a curve. Advice I wish someone gave me, keep it simple and don't over think. He'll mark you down just because, "I don't like it, fix it.". Need help? Ask.

Some love him, some hate him. He's very experienced in his field, he's funny, and he makes his grading criteria clear. Ex: if you don't comment your code, you'll lose points. Lectures and homework are hands-on, as they should be. Encourages good coding habits. He's getting old, though; he's running low on energy and may retire soon. Often got sick.

Hardest class Ive ever taken. Everyone else that took CIS120 with other teachers, said it was stress free while im taking it with him and constantly stressing over the amount of work he gives and how hard it all is. I dont think that amount of hw is necessary bc it is soo time consuming.

His class has SO much work and is very time consuming. He gives you at least 3 exams a week. Because of the heavy load of homework and exams, I almost didn't complete assignments and exams. If you like a challenge, this is your class. However, he does seem to be a nice guy.

Darrel is a tough grader but he gives a lot of good feedback. If you meet up with him during office hours to ask about questions on the assignments and do the work, you will get an A.

Hardest class I've ever taken, but you will learn more from a class taught by Darrel than you would if it were anyone else, and you will be proud of the work you did at the end of it. Didn't make us buy a book, great resources. He has high expectations, and he's tough, but he will be your biggest advocate in the world if you put the work in.

Professor Darrel Karbginsky is a great teacher. He has experience in Computers and knows how to explain it well. Show up for class, do the work on simnet which is easy and will pass. Also he gives extra credit like every other week and if you get a score of 105% percent by the end of term in class you wont need to take the final

He is clear on instructions. Class is laid out step by step. You get multiple chances on your quizzes. He has office hours you can go and ask for help. Though he does't help with computer issues. He is your teacher not your personal IT worker. Gives extra credit which helps bump grade up. Work hard he will exempt you from the final.

I took an intro course and the amount of work was insane. There is so much work and reading that it takes hours and hours to finish. He is also rude and had a fit that I did not address him properly in an email by not calling him Professor. Yelled at me in response.

He isn't awful but certainly isn't a professor I would choose again. Everything is done through SIMnet and if it has technical issues your basically on your own to figure out. Very pompous and doesn't really seem to care about his students. Just my experience though. Lots of homework but he does offer extra credit which is nice.

Great class to take if you want to learn the basics of computers or word doc. However, do not expect this instructor to give you any assistance or feed back without having any proper edicate first. This instructor gives you what you need if your expecting to pass. Don't follow the rules, don't expect any proper insite or help.

Mr. Karbginsky is a good teacher, but not for dummies in computer. If you do not have any idea in programming, never take this class with him. He mix a lot of high level stuff as if his students have been doing programming for years. He is a nice guy and grades are easy to make in his class.

I've taken several classes with Darrel so far. If you're looking for a teacher whose class you can cheese your way through, this isn't the one. While he may be kind of intimidating at first, he's actually a pretty cool and funny guy. He is specific on what he wants, but if you stick to it, it's not difficult to get things done correctly. Fun class!

Great teacher, wish I took him the first time I took CIS 101. Gives lots of extra credit and if there is a problem with a grade he changes it without questions right away. His insights to computer security are especially interesting and really helpful. Really easy class to get an A in, just do all of the work and the extra credit.

The course is difficult and Darrel's teaching style is hard to learn from. Bland lectures and a lot of reading coupled with a term long group project that begins on day 1 of class. While alot is learned in 9 short weeks, prepare to put in alot of effort in order to pass(about 30-40hrsweek of homework during the last couple of weeks).
