Professor Ely is a good professor. His lectures are clear and there are no surprises in his exams.Take notes of the clicker questions; they're extremely helpful. The only bad thing I would say is that the multiple choice part of his exam is worth ALOT (4points), so there is no room for mistakes.

Ely is a really nice guy and he's extremely helpful if you need it. With that being said, you need to be proactive in this class because the subject is very dull so it's easy to doze off. If you read the book and do the end of chapter problems you should be fine. The tests can be difficult, but it is definitely manageable.

Super hard class, and super hard tests with the average grade lower than 60%. Lectures are pretty dry. Financial Services Majors, good luck with this class! Other majors, if this is not required class to take, I suggest you not to take it because you will spend hours and hours studying and doing the ProBanker Project. He does not give study guide..

I should have learned from the Econ class I had the displeasure of taking with this professor. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and he is still boring and his exams are ridiculous! You dedicate hours of studying only to receive less than 60% on each exam, and his classes are huge too. Avoid taking this as your elective if you can!

Prepared to be bored out of your mind. Lectures are very dry. Interesting subject; hard class. I work in banking so I figured it'd be helpful. Probably the hardest elective I've ever taken. Managed an A- by the grace of the curve.

Hardclass. Wicked curve, very awesome curve, expecting C and got B- but I still wouldn't recommend because you might not make the curve. Learned a lot, very intelligent man. The second and Final exam gave me such bad butterflies I thought I was gonna puke. Homework and group project helps pad the grade. Try different elective if possible my advice

This is a very difficult class. Wayy too muchh work. Super hard test. Proffesor never tells us what we need to know for the test. Extremely hard class average on test was about 60 or lower. Teacher excepts you to know things. Need to learn on your own since he does not really explain material good enough

elective course with more work than my fin 325..way too difficult for what the class is. he is boring and studders. class average on first 2 exams was <60. makes you memorize probly about 20 formulas for each exam with no formula sheet. avoid as elective at all costs.

Worst class ever. So boring, ridiculous amount of work, he keeps you late every time, acts like youre stupid when you ask questions. Average on exams was a 60 percent. Financial services majors have to take it with him but don't pick as an elective!

No Upper Division Finance class is easy, but Ely is one the few teachers that is fair and teaches you exactly what you need to know for exams. There's 3 Exams, 10 Quizzes, and 1 Project. Lectures are a little tedious but I recommend going because it helps. Also, read the book and do the end of chapter problems. Overall solid class.

just because you don't have a life, does not mean that your students have to be the same as you. the most boring professor and for an elective class, he gives too much work.

FINALLY a teacher in the finance department that actually TEACHES. Take his class, do the homework and go to class. You will learn a lot in this class, but is that not the point?

Nice guy. Kind of boring, but he makes an effort. Lectures are very organized. Book is helpful as a backup, but just go over his lecture notes and you'll be fine. He makes the project seem harder than it really is.

Had him for managerial econ and macroecon. Don't expect a shortened class. Ever. Nice guy though. Very dry. He's a flexible grader, and not mean at all. He'll try to help you if you ask. Make sure you have a basic understanding of Calculus before M

He lives the economist lifestyle... rambles a bit -text lacks- grab an 'economics of dummies' book. Expect the obvious, and learn the equations. I left asking, WHY BOTHER?
