Awful teacher. Doesn't make clear what he wants from his students and doesn't answers emails. His tests are quite random and have nothing to do with the book. For the midterm, each question literally said "according to the lecture,". He's unorganized and doesn't pay attention to students who aren't sitting in the front 3 rows of the class.

Very unclear in what he wants. We turn in work and he says where is your graph. You never told us to include a graph. Pop quizes all the time, his questions and answers make no sense. 50% of grade based on quizzes/projects, 10% midterm 40% final. No matter what you do, youre going to go into the final with a C or worse. An act of God if you pass.

havens style of teaching is to engage the class with exercises, activities, projects, and weekly quizzes. if i missed any of the material, it wasn't difficult to find him in the office for help.

He is the absolute best teacher I have had at SJSU! Its a fun conversational class and you actually learn alot. Projects aren't too bad, quizzes are easy, and there is only one final. no midterms! He is super nice and sweet & can be funny AT TIMES!

This class is totally random. It is hard to predict things coming up since he's not clear about what he wants students to do. Class projects and the final weighted the most (40% for project, 40% for final). Questions on the exams/quizzes were meaningless. For example, he'd give you an scenario asking you to identify the "step #" in that process...

AVOID THIS PROF!! he is horrible. lectures are all over the place. you end up teaching yourself everything. quizzes all the time with unexplained ?s & As? got 2 bs on both midterms and told me I was going into the final with a C??no hw. his"extra credit"conference ending up being mandatory and students needed to read a book to make up. nightmare.

Online marketing. Only quizzes,projects, and final(no midterm). Class is laidback. Need a laptop for this class (not really but to keep you from getting bored).Quiz are vocab from the book. Don't really use the book. Attendence is required because of the projects. Quiz are schedule but projects aren't. Easy A if u do everything. Class can be fun.

Wont give you credit for right answers on tests. Talks to the board the whole time. No cheat sheet, excepts the world from all students. Straight up a horrible teacher. How do you tell a student that " you assumed the answer was from the text. I was going off of my lecture" really havens? really?

Worst teacher ever. On a midterm I get a question right that he marks wrong. His response, "it's curved so it doesn't matter." Then I get a question right based on the text, he marks it wrong because "I didn't put 'in the textbook'". He is the the most boring, non helpful, and just a bad person in general. Don't take him, trust me.

I wonder what made him decide he should become a teacher? Teaching does not consist of outlines and poorly defined terms. Good luck getting any questions answered without a snide comment, and good luck learning anything! I'm an A student and couldn't get over a C on anything because he is so unclear, confusing and constantly misinforming students.

Havens is a good teacher, you have to attend class to take notes, because the midterm are mostly from his notes, he gives you a study guide to study and if you study the guide very well, you will do well. quizzes are not too hard, he lets you use your notes. He is extremely helpful in his offices hours. Good Teacher!

Avoid his class like the plague!!! He is confusing and vague, pop quizzes practically every day. Always bring a scantron. His grading methods are unexplained, you won't understand why you got a certain grade. If you dont get your score on the day he gives test back, don't ever count on getting it back at all or knowing your grade. Worst teacher!

Basically a self-taught class. Definitely need to get the book because he does not teach even half of the material that will be on the tests. Doesn't seem to care much about students. I worked hard in this class and still got a C. Avoid him if you can!

Good: Nice. Bad: Disorganized, vague, weekly quizzes, boring/useless lectures, tedious and useless projects. This was probably one of the most useless classes I've taken at SJSU. Irrelevant lectures that were so boring you NEED a computer. Ridiculously easy A. If you can suffer the boredom and uselessness, GPA booster.

Tests are pretty easy - 50 scantron questions, all based on his lectures (you don't need the textbook). Grade based on three midterms (he throws out your worst one), "projects," and a final. No hw or papers. His "projects," which mostly consist of very short quizzes (so go to class), are usually tricky and unfair. Only bad part about the class.

Do not take this guy!!! He is a terrible teacher. He faces the board the entire time he lectures and all of his tests are based off of his lectures. You have to bring a scantron to class every day for his 4-10 question quizzes.
