Prof Fisher wants you to succeed. With jokes & public speaking skills galore, he embeds in you a wealth of knowledge that goes beyond the subject matter of his course. I learned a lot about software engineering and machine learning in my Information Retrieval class with him. Super Intelligent. Definitely take his class!

David Fisher's course was by far the best Computer Science course I took at UMass. I graduated a number of years ago, but my experience in his class greatly influenced the course of my life. I highly recommend this course with this instructor!!!

If you are prepared to pierce the veil of his very dry, cynical sense of humor, Fisher has an incredible wealth of knowledge to teach you. He's also the only teacher I've had in college with public speaking skills and stage presence, so it's actually not hard to pay attention.

He wastes a LOT of class time. At the beginning of each class we spent 15-20 minutes on stuff like "Simpsons or Family Guy". He just mentioned (I can't even say he briefly talked about) some of design patterns, and one project manager gave a presentation on it. First month of class we did not do anything! Also, he did not organize the class well.

Very nice and smart though senile man! This is like "The Apprentice." He gives you a good look at the real world, especially as a software engineer. But you have to want to learn to learn a lot...very understanding professor as well, he understands the workload of others...take this course! It's fun!

One of the best teachers I had at UMass. His course is a break from the banal programming of so many of the other courses. You still have to do your programming and design work. There's no lack of work or effort in this course, but David Fisher makes it a more realistic experience.

CS320 was good wen I took it, but why _WHY_ would you code a game in Java, and swing...wtf. OpenGL in C++ would have been perfect. But I guess operator overloading is just too insane for some people. P.S buy a copy of "computer graphics using opengl 3.0"

This guy is the worst cmpsci teacher ever. We learn nothing in class. Assignments are vague and arbitrarily graded. He is arrogant & snotty. if you like fairy wands and stuffed animals, then this teacher is for you. If you actually want to learn computer science- this class is not where it happens.

Fisher does not teach.He spends the entire class building up his arrogant persona. He cares more about making silly jokes and allowing the class to get distracted by ridiculous tangent arguments than actually educate students about software.His assignments and explanations are both incredibly vague.

He is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is very inspiring and even though the course requires ALOT of work (depends on the role you choose to take in the class) I personally found it to be interesting and fun. He will seem obscure but that's just what he's supposed to do. Enjoy~

David Fisher is by far the best teacher I had at UMASS. He gets the class involved. His lecture are NOT boring. And most of all - he knows what he's talking about. If you are considering taking 320 - you should not take it with anybody else but David. :D

Great class. Very helpful, professor was always enthusiastic about the class. Great in class discussion. Probably the only CS class where you get to watch other CS majors hoola hoop.
