Fun class! It was nice to come to his class when all of my other classes are long boring lectures. He uses a variety of teaching methods and you will have to act. Time outside the class is a requirement but it is a challenge and I made it fun. Learned alot and got an A.

I really was let down by this class. The testing was on obscure facts and required alot of reading. Plays were performed in class. 2 hours of volunteering in theatre was also required. I wanted this class because I am an Edu major and wanted to add some theater to my lesson plans. There were 2 text books required. Also 1000 word rule still.

Like any director, he's an ass during the rehearsals up to the show. In class, he's a marvelous instructor who gives many 'a good tip on methods. Great if you're looking into drama as a major or if you're just looking for a cool class to exempt public speaking.

Intro to Theatre - difficult class period. Acting/Play Production classes - the man is good, provided you don't get on his bad side. If you do, shut your mouth for the rest of the day and don't mess up like that the next day. Within a week with him, bygons are bygons.

Mr. Hartley is excellent!! He is an amazing teacher and a caring man and I REALLY think his jokes are funny. More than willing to go out on a limb for a student if he believes that they will return the effort.

Guy was full of himself, but a good professor. Always had acting students there of questionable masculinity that laughed at all his jokes. Guys take this because there were 3 girls for every guy.
