Best teacher ever! nice guy, great class, he is always laughing. Look forward to going to his class, he makes it FUN and EASY. Also has a pizza party at the end of the semester. 5 question quiz everyday in class, pretty easy, drops your worst. very few assignments and gives you plenty of time to complete them. Buy the book! not the online version

Best College professor I have had so far. Take my word. I actually looked forward to going to his class each day. Great teacher, great personality. Work is easy and have plenty of time. Should have no problem getting an A in his class.

I took it online so it was self guided with assignments you turned in. He gave you plenty of time for the assignments and there wasn't many tests. He does however assign a rather large semester project that I felt was inappropriate for this type of course. An 8-10 page paper for an intro to Microsoft class just doesn't make sense.

This class more thoroughly covered MS Excel and Access, however, if you don't already have a strong understanding of these programs, I would not suggest taking this class with Helton. He's very chatty and likes to talk about his world travel, but knows relatively little about computers in general. Tests and assignments are easy.

He is a really nice guy and means well. He is super smart so I think sometimes he had trouble relating to students. He is very helpful though if you ask him questions. Easy class and cares about his students. Felt bad for him because no one really paid attention. Not as bad as people say if you give him a chance to help you

Easy A, but an awful teacher. He laughs during every sentence even though nothing is funny, which drags out lectures, which are pointless because the book knows more than he does. Not helpful if you have questions, we got an assignment removed cause he couldn't explain how to do it. You do only have class for 1 hour/1:40- only bright side.

I took him for CIS 155 and 250 and he is terrible. You will walk out of class not learning a thing, but you will get a A or B in the class. The book is rarely used. For the exams your allowed 2 pieces of paper both sides and if that's not enough the exams are curved full letter grades.

I've had many of Helton's classes: CIS-464,250,155,212. He's super nice and really funny which seems to always keep classes interesting. He does alot of teaching seminars & if you pay attention you'll notice he actually has great ways of teaching, his random laughter and scatter of outline just gets in the way. Seems sensitive & embarrassed easily.

Helton is hilarious! Sure, you might not learn a lot from him directly, but if you pay attention and read the book, you'll do fine. Instead of relying on the professor if you don't understand, find a tutor. They're out there, you know!

Helton is very scatter brained. He jumps from topic to topic and gets distracted easily. His lectures aren't very easy to follow and he's confusing and unorganized. He is an easy grader and a nice guy, but if you don't have a basic understanding of programming, this may be difficult for you.

I was forced to take this course as part of the new MBA program. I personally don't believe this professor should be teaching any sort of course whatsoever. I hope they never choose him for another MBA course for NMU and if they do I feel sorry for those who are forced to have him. My recommendation would be to force him into retirement.

I have heard many complaints about this teacher but he is super nice and almost to easy on grades. People would probably understand the class better if they participated more. Most students surf the net. If you don't get an A or B in this class then you are a moron and should drop out of school now before you waste more money.
