I literally wait until this professor is listed to teach my required math courses for my minor. He is easy, but you learn a lot. He really breaks down a course into a series of important and easy to understand sections. I have learned WAY more with this professor than all the other math professors combined that only teach proof based courses.

Comment:

Professor Joyce grades fairly and his tests are pretty easy. If you have taken calculus in high school you will do well in the class, since most material in the course is covered in calc class in high school. He is okay in teaching I don't really understand the new material well, but most of the examples he gives in class make sense.

I found Professor Joyce to be a great calculus teacher. He is a pretty funny guy and was extremely knowledgeable on the subjects he taught me. He is very patient/willing to help and doesn't come across as arrogant at all.

He is so helpful and he writes everything he says. It is a math class so he is supposed to write only numbers and symbols on the board but he writes all his thoughts. He deals with students as if they know nothing in the course. He is so patient and always available. He is the best in his department

Great guy, really cares about students. Also is a genius. If you don't get it, the culprit is more likely to be your level of retardation or lack of motivation than Dr. Joyce's teaching. He's one of the rare who will legitimately care about you if show interest in the course, even if you're struggling.

Clearly knows a lot about math and its history (quite interesting). However, he lacks clarity. He doesn't finish sentances, uses poor examples that get him sidetracked. However, he will explain things if asked to. I liked him, but he's not for everyone.
