Comment:

Dr. Mutchler is an excellent professor for CSSE 120. He does a very good job at explaining things in ways that make sense to everyone. If you have zero experience with programming, you can still excel in his class. He is also very understanding and is willing to work with his students. Just don't expect to get your grades back when he says he will.

Comment:

He cares a lot for his students and will do anything to help you understand the content and do good in his class. There isn't really any lectures, instead, class time is applied to answering questions and completing lessons on your own. Can be done outside of class, but not quite possible if you have never done Python before. Use his office time.

He's super chill! You spend most of in-class time doing exercises on concepts studied outside of class, which allows you to get help the instant you need it. The coding is actually super easy, but pencil-and-paper parts of the class is the real kicker. Make sure you study the concrete examples!

The TA's were just as helpful as he was during class. That being said, they were all very helpful and made things fairly easy on you. I was in the 9am class and he was always 10-15 minutes late which was a little annoying. Sometimes he would straight up cancel class though which was awesome.

Prof. Mutchler was my first professor at Rose. He isn't clear enough when it comes to explaining stuff, but he surely knows what he is talking about. I got lost in the first couple weeks and met with him several times throughout the quarter for further explanations of whatever I found confusing during class. In short, confused? Set up a meeting.

Generally a good professor in that he is clear about the topics discussed and is always willing to help. However, he is HORRIBLE about grading, he often never finishes grading in a timely manner (he didn't even grade our 2nd test). Still, not a bad prof overall.

So the trick with Mutchler is to show up and do the work, and if you are confused GO IN AND TALK TO HIM. He is always in his office or the CS lab, and I mean always, and he knows what he's doing. He just is not that comprehensible during lectures.

Mutchler is completely worthless at teaching his subject. He made many mistakes in the assignments he gave us, and regularly failed to properly do in-class examples. That said, the class is very very easy.

this man is a saint.sure, during class he may go a bit fast occasionally or not explain things thoroughly,so go see him after class.i spent many one-on-one hours with this guy.he never turns students away.i REALLY struggled with computer science, but the only reason i passed the class was because of him.i honestly cant say anything bad about him.
