He mostly drifts away from the topic. He knows what he is about and just keep going for lectures. Anything that will be tested is discussed during lectures.

Skinner was interesting. He was kind of annoying at times, his mic was always broken and the class was often interrupted by the loud screech of the microphone. He goes on and on about irrelevant things and calls you out if you leave early or if you are texting. The class can be interesting and i loved tutorials. overall ok, take it if you have too.

Always went off topic. Could barely understand him when he spoke, the mic he used was not functioning well. Decent class. You should definitely keep up with the readings.

Material is interesting but lectures don't do it any justice. You will lean more by reading the textbooks rather than going to lecture. Also, if you're going to take this course make sure you like your TA or else you might have a hard time.

He knows what he is talking about and is clear in his way of explaining it. He gives a review for both the fall exam and the winter exam. He is understanding and approachable. If you don't go to class you will struggle on the exams but try to do all the readings they are beneficial for the exams.

Lectures are tedious, and readings are boring and long. However, I did maybe 4 readings, those being the ones I presented on and I ended off with a B+. Exams were really easy, papers were a little tougher but nothing impossible. Would I reccomend? No, not unless your a COMN major. David is nice, humorous and open to help though.

was very disorganized and hard to follow with lectures, gets very off topic and distracted by anyone talking or doing anything. will call you out for no reason. The material in the course was pretty standard .

Lectures are alright, kind of boring sometimes. There's a lot of focus on the tutorials. Exams are very much based on the lecture, only some material comes from textbook. Essays are pretty okay.

Knowledgable about the subject, but teaching style is somewhat disorganized. Very likeable person however, and very approachable. Encourages questions, but we refrained because he would give us a 30 minute long answer.

Very enthisiatic when teaching, but often goes off topic or drags on when speaking of one topic. Lectures are two hours, but could easily be one hour long. Even though it is hard to stay focused throughout the lecture, the slides ar eposted online and the Professor is always open to help you if you need anything.

Lectures are irrelevant, a lot of reading, tutorial attendance is mandatory and important. Strangely enough, someone teaching COMN never upload handouts/slides online, going to lectures basically is all about writing down his slides

This class is hard. That's not to say you cannot get a good mark, I got a B, but it was a struggle. If you really want to learn about the news, the internet and Canadian content take the course. THIS IS NOT A BIRD COURSE. There is a ton of reading.

Honestly just not interesting. Gets off topic way too often, and while it was funny at first, gradually it gets annoying. No online notes, and the exam has EXTREMELY specific multiple choice/true&false questions. Attendance is important, but I couldn't bring myself to attend the last 4 lectures. He does know his stuff, just very disorganized.

he is such a bad professor. hes very disorganized, and gets off topic often. Worst of all, he tells us he (or the TA's) aren't paid to answer our questions... Also, no notes are posted online, so you have to attend lecture to copy everything (rather than listen)

Prof. Skinner is a pretty cool guy. Granted, he goes off topic from time to time & that microphone is really loud lol, but he puts on a great show. He's not pretentious either like some of the TA's I've seen for his class. I only wished he taught one of his many tutorials as he's got great insights on the media at large. Would have him again!!

He's a great teacher, and you can tell that he is really involved the current world of communication theory! Be aware- that his lectures ramble, and don't always seem relevant to course material.. Reading wise, because he does fall behind in his lectures, I found that it was almost better to read after a topic was first introduced.
