Sohns is an amazing human. Her classes are challenging but very worth it and rewarding. Her goal is to prepare you for the real world and that is what she does. She loves to mentor you and help you through everything. One of the best professors in the comm department her. Definitely take classes with her!!

Sohns is amazing!!! If you go to lectures and actually do the online quizzes you will do well in the class. She is funny and makes the lectures interesting. I had her at 8:30am and am not a morning person- never wanted to miss class!!!!!

Dawn Sohns is my favorite professor here! She truly cares about her students. Her lectures are funny and enjoyable. She plays music before every class which is cool too. She also lets you use cheat sheets on all 3 tests. There are online quizzes but those are easy 100's. If you have to take Media Law definatley take it with with her!

Sohns is such a wonderful and inspirational woman! She's beyond intelligent, and she's such a mom in the best way possible. If you're a freshman, please take this class. She walks you through literally everything and genuinely wants all of her students to succeed. She even went over pre-enrollment which she didn't have to do, but it was so nice!

Sohns is my favorite professor here. The material and text is tough to get into but she tries her best to make it interesting. There is a ton of reading but if you go to class every day it can probably be skimmed. She also lets you have a cheat sheet for the 4 tests given. And participation is key; what should have been a +B got rounded into a -A

I have taken multiple classes with Sohns and she is a great professor. Organizational Comm is not an easy class and you have to work your butt off on the organizational group project which has a big group paper and an oral presentation. I enjoyed the class but it was not what i expected. It was difficult to follow because the book sucked too

Sohns has been my favorite professor so far here at SUNY Oneonta. Her lectures are interesting and informative, and as long as you attend class and pay attention (and at least skim through the textbook pages) you'll do really. She also lets you use a cheat sheet on tests. I highly recommend that you take this class and that you take it with her!

She is a great teacher. I learned so much from her class but you have to make sure you put the effort in. It definitely helps you out for a future in the field. You put in the effort she notices and your grade will reflect it. She is the mom of Communication Studies at Oneonta.

Definitely a fun class. Sohns taught us a lot and treated each student with great respect. Some things get very specific so watch for that throughout the whole course. Two group projects with the same group, one with a long paper but if each member does their part it's cake. Overall, great class and learning experience.

Public Speaking. I was ready to drop the class in seconds, but so glad I didn't. She teaches you to be comfortable and confident when it comes to speaking in front of people. She's loyal to her syllabus and everything is on there. If you need help just go to her office hours. Her feedback guides you to an A in an assignment. She's great!

Your grade depends on how much effort you put into her class. The syllabus was scary at first but she turned out to be less intense than I thought. She explains points very clearly but make sure you go to her classes! Her class actually makes me want to change my major to something with law now. I definitely taking something with her!

Sohns was great! Really nice and funny. Blasts music at the beginning of every class. Very interested in her work and her students. Tests online; tests make up 92% of your grade. READ THE TEXTBOOK & GO TO CLASS & PARTICIPATE & MAKE SURE Sohns KNOWS YOU. That's the best way to make sure you get a good grade. Great class, recommended. Good Luck!!

Such an amazing teacher and class, however, be prepared for ALOT of work! Between 2 online quizzes a week and her dense tests, you will end reading the majority of the textbook. Request for her to post tests online as well!! Also, she has you do a large group project, she will grade your first portion harshly, but if you work hard you can do well!

Professor Sohns is so awesome! She's very upbeat and peppy, keeps class interesting and plays music in the morning to wake us all up. All tests and quizzes are online, but they're timed so take good notes beforehand or you'll be out of luck!

Great teacher! Class was interesting because of her passion for the subject. The first few chapters of the text are boring and hard to get through if you're not interested.She is conservative and maybe a tad naive. She is always smiling, and my 9 AM class with her is always welcomed by her blasting her music.
