Mostly lecture based. When absent, will have students run the class themselves. Reviews before tests. Splits txtbk reading by groups, so you read 1 ch. There's a lot of reading, but she goes over it all in class. Really great field work and experiences in culturalsocial anthropology, but she's more of a researcher than a prof. Gives extra credit.

Not your typical professor. To her, Anthropology is not just a discipline but a way of life. There is no wrong answer, just a different perspective. Validates why I chose a liberal arts ed at MHC. Inspired me to become an Anthro major! Tip:take electronic notes bc lectures are scatteredprobably bc of her brilliant ideas and passion for teaching.

She assigns a lot of reading which you absolutely have to do in order to pass the class- you may not need it right away, but come exam time you'll be glad you kept up. She's extremely interesting, funny, and nice, but she can be a bit hard to follow. I really looked forward to going to her class, though, and I feel I learned a lot.

Her lectures are very informative and comprehensive, I recommend taking notes on a laptop if you're a fast typist because she says a lot of things and they're all important. Her assignments are very reasonable and clear cut. The readings can be a little long but if you don't procrastinate, it's not a problem.

Debbora is ill-organized, unfavorably abrasive, and not particularly understanding. Anthropology requires an open mind, yet I believe she has forgotten hers somewhere over seas. There is a disconnect between her vague instructions for assignments and the detailed expectations she has upon correcting them. She demands much but does not reciprocate.

Battaglia is very passionate. She is good at establishing overarching themes in the class, which is important since the readings cover such a wide range. The assessments are very fair, and she has clear expectations for what we should know. That being said, sometimes the amount of reading is not reasonable. Very seldom, though. Would recommend.

Shes a little crazy, but one on one very helpful and inspiring. Her passion is shown through her lectures, but is ALWAYS unclear as far as debate or paper instructions are concerned. She also changes the criterias all the time which can be frustrating and confusing. That said, shes amazingly brilliant, but maybe a little off her rocker.

She made me fall in love w/ Anthro. She grades papers hard, & can be a bit distant (has back pain, folks), but tried her best to rearange the class for her students' needs (which irritated some). She has a quiet & formal grace & intensity that is captivating and inspiring, w/ great field stories! Self-prepulsion helps w/ vagueness. Go w/ your gut!

I thought she hated me at first - she tends to be kind of distant. Then I realized she just wants her students to get excited and think critically about the material. Still, it's hard to tell what she's looking for on essays. Course and lectures seemed disorganized.
