Comment:

Tests on her own political beliefs as fact. Learned almost nothing about sociology for a college course and easily got a B+ by not reading a textbook intent on indoctrinating innocent minds to radical leftism. Aced a few tests by choosing the mc option that would reflect her political stance. Conservatives and critical thinkers should go elsewhere.

Comment:

The course material was interesting to me. Dr. P isn't the most dynamic speaker, but she is easy to follow. She sets forth expectations and the schedule in the syllabus. Show up, listen, re-read your notes and do the reading to ensure a good grade. I sought her opinion with some majorminor decision making, and she was helpful and gracious.

Comment:

Absolutely hated this class. Her lectures are boring and hard to listen to, and her tests have little to do with what she presents in class. They're online and you have 60 minutes to answer 50 questions, all word for word from the textbook. She puts slides online, but takes out a lot of crucial content, so if you miss a class they're no help.

Deb is by far one of my least favorite professors at Bemidji. She is very unhelpful and very unapproachable. She only reads off of her slides which have little to nothing to do with the tests, and the tests are impossible to pass. They are all online and she doesn't tell you what you got wrong so you can fix your mistakes. I advise not to take her

First off her class is boring as hell, she talks about stories that have little to no reverence to the class, her grading method is a plus or a minus sign on your paper, its hard to find her, and her overall attitude is very unapproachable. If Possible take this class with some one else (Family and Society) and what textbook try pamphlet.

I loved taking sociology of marriage and family with her and I'm a guy speaking about this class. If you don't have a problem following the schedule with reading, take notes on the reading, and take notes on the power points in class the tests seem like a cake walk. She could work on being less nervous while doing public speaking.

She talks above everyone like she is trying to show off that she is a 'doctor'. She tells really awkward stories, but is really helpful if you need help or are falling behind

Deb does a very good job of explaining the course material. This class was fairly easy for me but some find it challenging. The tests are fairly easy and she's pretty lenient in her grading; you shouldn't have any problems if you know the material.

Deb is a tough teacher. She is also very willing to assist students and guide them when they seek her out. Deb has helped me get a better grasp on mathematical concpets and I look forward to Methods next fall!!!! If everything was easy in life, we would all be dead from bordem!! Take a chance and you might learn something from Deb!!!!

The material was not difficult to understand. However, She made the tests very difficult. She made the tests too difficult! compared to the material that she taught, it made you wonder if you were in the right class. I would not recommend this teacher. If you can take this class with someone else.... do it!!!

This class was very difficult with her "teaching". Material for assignments was easy to understand but her tests were not. Very difficult! Most everyone did poorly on the tests. Should give her a clue how to write her tests. When you needed help she acted like you were wasting her time.

Her strength is that she is a great social statistician. Expect that you will work VERY hard!! She needs to realize when 90% of her class fails or does poorly on her first exam, it's time to rethink her testing methodology. Most of the students in the program dreaded her classes.

Deb is a great teacher who will give her students as much time as needed out of class for them to understand the material. Her tests are hard, but she gives v. thourough study guides and open note information. Cool lady!!

She is a very boring teacher who simple reads from her notes. Her tests are impossible. Out of the ten people I asked in the class, 9 of them received a D on the last test and there are only approx. 15 students in the class. Something is wrong here!
