I had went to his class everyday took notes and worked hard to do well but still needed help so I decided to go to his office hours to get some extra help and all he told me is that I was not taking good enough notes and would not actually help me with my program. He will tell you what to do but if you need any help forget about it.

I have never before had a professor that told me that he didnt know how to do the assignment. Higgins will help the girls in the class first and if there is time for him to come help the guys in the class he will just tell them they are doing it wrong and that hes not really sure how to help. He also is unwilling to help you at his 8am office hours

thought he was a good professor. he makes class relative to watch the current or upcoming project is. as long as you show up for class youll have no problem. he writes out most of the code youll need for projects and tests. not a cake walk but youll learn something.

Brilliant guy, definitely knows his stuff, but doesn't know the first thing about teaching. A lot of people here say he's condescending or unhelpful but he isn't really; he just has a very uncommon sense of humor. Still, he really blew through curriculum as quick as he could with very little explanation. Also worst handwriting ever -- hard to read.

Higgins is tough, but he makes sure that to do well you must truly learn something. He kicks your butt in the beginning but once your prove yourself, he will go above and beyond. Great professor & extremely relevant. Stick through it and as long as you dont leave your assignments till the last minute and leave time for questions you will be fine.

Expects you to know the material through osmosis? He thinks he's empowering, but he's really driving people away. Half the class dropped by mid-semester. You have to constantly ask for help because his lectures awful - and he'll only help you a little before jumping to the next person. What a waste of time; the final project was a joke.

He doesn't really teach, and expects you to just know the material from his ramblings - which he calls a lecture. He'll help you, but in a very condescending way. I had VB experiance from high school, and I'll be lucky to pass. Do not take class with him.

first off i must say he is a very bright man and knows the material. However, he CANT teach it. He is very unorganised and unless you have a laptop your notes make no sense because he is all over the place. The one thing is that he will help you if you go to his office hours, or in the Lab. But overal he is not a very good teacher.

He Will escape from you as soon as class is over, no time for the students. if you want help he gets annoyed most of the time, he goes through material like water, and expects for you to learn a chapter in a day. if you plan to do well in his class STUDY and make sure you have a good foundation of your programming languages.
