Comment:

The structure of the course was we had a quiz every week that was 25% of our final grade, two midterms which were 25% each, and a final that was 50% of our grade. But you got to drop the quizzes or one midterm. Overall, I found the class very difficult. I did not do the optional hw, which would've helped. Prof. White is very formal and not helpful.

He is a nice guy but he will really challenge you. His test are not to see if you know the material but simply if you can answer the hardest question in the section

Comment:

No mandatory homework, does recommend problems that could be on tests or quizzes. He gives a lot of example problems, which he also uses for tests and quizzes. Does reviews before each exam, we had 3. Weekly quizzes that cover about 2 sections each. Would definitely recommend for kids who haven't taken any calculus. Easy to get a high grade

Professor White, is a very good and knowledgeable teacher but before you take this class be sure that you know a lot of trigonometry concepts and graphing with functions without a calculator.

Class was ridiculously boring. If you have take the math wac dont do it with him, so boring, just endless proofs about stuff you already know. homework and tests weren't terrible...but there was a pretty nice curve based off the class average, so all you have to do is be average even if the average is a 40% he made that a C.

Comment:

I had Professor White for both MATH 1850 and 1860, Calc I and II. He loves doing proofs during lectures and his notes can sometimes be confusing, but he is really helpful if you go to his office hours. His tests and quizzes can be easy or hard depending on how you prepare for it. Most questions come from the book we use so make sure you practice

Comment:

Professor White is ok in lecture, but he is very scattered sometimes on the notes. His quizzes are moderately hard, but his tests are EXTREMELY difficult. Test averages this semester were in the 50% range. I would not recommend anyone to take one of his classes.

Good teacher, his notes really help and has good TA's in his recitation classes to help you as well. If you are undecided who to take, take him because you most likely will not fail. Wish I took him again for Calc II.

Mathematical Analysis is a hard class but he is the best teacher. You may not understand the material in class, but go to his office hours and he explains everything! Awesome teacher!

I took analysis he is hard but he is really good. I loved his class although I didnt understand it properly but he was always ready to help. He liked having students come over to get help. He does expect you to do the work. If you are ready to work hard and ask question take him, but he is not easy. I wish I could have him for all my upper classes.

Prof. White is a very good professor for Calc II. Any Calc II class is extremely difficult, but Prof. White makes an effort to teach it as clear as possible. You will have to work at his class and do all the problems since his quizzes and tests come directly from the book. The hard work will pay off.

Dennis White is one of my favorite teachers. I simply like the way he does things. He illustrates a concept, proves the theorem or equation, does a bunch of examples, and moves on. Works for me. He also really loves math. A lot.
