Dr. Glyer's reputation is that she is a tough grader. Although this is true, she does so because she wants you to SUCCEED. Office visits are daunting but rewarding; she wants to help you. She will not spoon-feed you how to write, but challenges you to critically think about your argument. You will become a better writer if you put in effort.

Glyer is an amazing teacher! I was terrified to take her class. I heard she was a really harsh grader but it was not as hard as people said it was going to be. She gives amazing feedback and chances to fix papers for better grades. Her insight is inspiring. She is the best honors teacher I've had. She is always ready to learn from and with you.

She knows the content incredibly well and takes time to teach you how to read the difficult books, instead of just expecting you to get it. She is well organized in class and teaches with the intent of making you the best scholar and human you can be--that's the kind of care she gives. Hard grader but worth it&always ready to talk in office hours.

Glyer is a brilliant woman with a lot of heart and a passion for teaching. I took her for a Dante seminar class and loved it. No busywork allowed in her classes but only homework that actually enriches your education. She can sometimes be too abstract and emphasize specific facts/knowledge but overall a great, challenging, worthwhile experience.

She really makes you work for your A, but if you put in the effort & apply yourself, you will benefit hugely. She is an author, an expert in her field, & a prof. that truly cares about her students & wants them to do well. Her classes are always exciting and interesting. She's engaging & very helpful. Intimidating at first, but a good friend.

Do not take with her if you can. She runs senior sem as if it's not about your thesis. Pointless busywork and quizzes and readings distract from working on your thesis. She's not clear about what she wants from you in your papers, she is vague in class and then grades harshly. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Dr. Glyer is unbelievably smart and really wants to teach her students what she knows. She's a good teacher (tells you what to expect, gives you worthwhile feedback, etc.) Because of this, she challenges you. A lot. But if you show up, do the readings, and do your best to write the papers, you'll become a MUCH better writer.

Dr. Glyer was the hardest professor I've ever taken by far, but very worthwhile. She cares about her students and will go out of her way to meet with you outside of class. She is also the leading expert on C.S. Lewis, which is really cool. Dr. Glyer is passionate about what she teaches, and you will learn a lot.

Dr. Glyer is an amazing professor that will challenge your writing in multiple ways. I was in the honors section of Freshman Writing Seminar and I was surprised at how much work there was. However, after taking her class you will be more than prepared for college papers. Take this class! It's hard but rewarding in the end.

Inspired me and gave me the courage to become a writing major, she'll push you and make you a better writer. Take her if you're serious about learning!

Very hard but if you want to learn early on in college how to do what the teacher tells you and not what you have learned in the past , then take her for freshman writing. She is very smart and challenges you. I got an A because I read and did the assignments, which are easy if you do the homework.

Dr Glyer is extremely passionate about what she loves as well as what she doesn't love...be sure not to get on the ugly end of that. Overall, extremely biased and has become more interesting in personal academic persuits which has effected her interest in students. Gives low grades and can't explain why.Run far away unless you have no other choice.
