Comment:
It's hard to understand this professor. He is so flippant and unhelpful. His comments are sarcastic, shameful, and unclear. It's like he is acting as a ball of angsty child, but really why would you do something like that. Perhaps it reflects how he was taught in his days of school. He should grow out of wanting so many people hate him.

One of the most pointless and worthless class you can be is when Diego is teaching the course. He is so bitter that you can tell that as soon as you see him.

Comment:
This class was a ton of work. You had to memorize and block a new scene every week. It was often stressful too because you could have very uncooperative classmates. But, Diego was really great. He was funny, kind, and super helpful. He didnt let this be an easy A. He really made you work.

Comment:
Very unclear--he understands theater and acting, he knows what he is talking about but is not very good in communicating it. We got very little feedback and while he promised written comments after every class we got them only twice. I didn't feel that he picked favorites but his grading was definitely confusing. I did learn some things.

Your acting lessons involve memorizing a new scene every week and performing it while the professor critiques you. You are forced to do constant group work with people who are available only on Tuesdays for half an hour. You never get to perfect a scene -- you must start fresh every week with little guidance and much criticism.

Comment:
He grades relative to what he feels the students ability is. I.e. a student he feels has tallent will find it harder to get an A on an assignment than a student who he feels is struggling. It's an interesting method, but perhaps not the best for Wellesley

Comment:
Diego is the most unprofessional teacher I have ever had. He had no real syllabus or plan, he did not do thorough evaluations, and only thought about grading after the class was over. It is widely believed that his grading was based on favoritism and not effort. Even though I did well in the course, I agree with this contention completely.

AWESOME!!! He is one of the clearest professors at Wellesley. He not only tells you what to do, he also shows you and makes sure you understand the logic behind it before he moves you onto another piece of text. Makes me take more acting classes at Wellesley.

Although some people think highly of this professor, think twice before you take a class with him. he does not appreciate your input. also, if you think you're getting an A, you're getting a C. he is also rude, he picks favorites, and hates people who can actually act.

He definitely picked favorites--he was super cool to a couple of girls and REALLY disliked others (for no apparent reason). He berated and seemed like he was trying to embarrass the latter. Not good at actually teaching technique, but really full of himself. Actually made me regret taking an acting course though I love acting...

I liked Diego a lot when I met him, however, I advise strong caution with regards to him as a teacher. He made a couple of flip remarks about my work but was unwilling to offer much help or guidance. I don't feel he really "taught" me anything positive.
