Levis has a ton of experience and knowledge in the field of psych but he makes his class a lot more difficult than it has to be. He mumbles so no one can hear or understand what he's saying, but when you can hear him, he's pretty interesting. I learned a lot from the TA and from reading the book. This class is not mandatory for a psych major.

he is hard to hear sometimes, but he is really funny and a great professor. tests aren't hard if you just put in the effort. read the textbook and pay attention in lecture. overall, i liked this class

awful start to the semester (mic didnt work, he mumbled, could never understand him) lectures got better but still very confusing. a lot of lecture information was ambiguous. tests divided btwn textbook info (by TA) and lecture info (by levis) - was like studying for 2 different classes. wish lectures matched book material. had higher expectations

It is a little hard to hear him; he does mumble. He doesn't use PP slides, but sheets projected on wall. By doing it this way he really makes you think and connect the information he is teaching. He also doesn't follow the book, so it is like getting 2 courses in 1. I loved the class and think the Levis is one of the best psych professors.

Very interesting class. Levis made the class harder and confusing. He test on each chapter from the book but does not cover them in class. In class he has his own lecture notes which we are also tested. Exam consist of matching, true or false and multiple choice. 80 total. He mumbles often. Hard class for Freshman.Manageable for upper level student

I actually really liked this class. Yes he is extremely monotonous and mumbles all the time and i fell asleep in class at least 5 times but there are only 4 or 5 tests and they're not very hard as long as you study. He goes over the lecture notes and textbook before each test and that gives you a good amount of the answers so really not very hard

This class could be so interesting, but he makes it so dull. He clearly knows a lot from the field, but speaks so monotonously and low it nearly puts you to sleep. Grade based on four tests (that are difficult, 1/2 textbook and 1/2 "lecture based" though he doesn't go over much in lecture). Attendance is never taken, and there's no discussion.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THE SUBJECT! it has little to do with behavior disorders. ALOT of textbook reading. Levis is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in his field but is very hard to hear. He often goes off on tangents about his clients in the past and puts them on the tests. VERY HARD TO UNDERSTAND!

Could not understand him unless you sit in first two rows. Monotone and lectures have nothing to do with test. Lecture and book completely separate I highly suggest not taking this class

Worst professor I've ever had. He is extremely unorganized and monotone. I was really interested in this course before I took it, but I ended up teaching myself everything by reading the textbook. His tests are difficult and his lectures have nothing to do with the chapters, yet you need to know everything from both. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!

He is a very tough teacher, but you will definitely learn something from his class!I remember stressing over his tests cuz it was impossible at that time. However, he's very generous with the grade range and my average was about 78ish but I still got a B+. As long as you stay above average, it's a fine class

this class is PAINFUL. He is impossible to understand. If you HAVE to take this class, get there early and sit in the very front row. Because he doesn't go over the textbook in class, the website that goes with the book is very helpful when reviewing for tests. You'll need to learn to study VERY thoroughly in order to do well in this class!!

You can study till your head hurts, go to ALL the lectures, and read the assigned chapters and what do you end up with? an overall C. The topic is immensely interesting but the teacher is horrid so you are better off taking this class with someone else.

You cannot understand him at all in his lectures. He does not go over anything in the book but 60% of the test will be from the book. His tests are extremely hard, especially the matching. Although he has contributed a lot in the subject, I recommend taking this course with a different teacher and learning about him there.

Levis is quite the character...althougth it is almost impossible to hear him or understand him in lectures, he really has contributed to the field of psychology. His ideas are slightly outdated but if you are interested in Psychology, he provides a decent framework of implosive therapy...but DO NOT TAKE HIS WORDS AS FACTUAL (just considerations)

My advice: save urself the misery of listening to him in class and just read the txtbook. It's what I did after the first exam. Sure there are those dam matching q's n ~15 of 60 mc is stuff from class. but I still managed to get ~15% above class average on all the tests just by knowing the txt book really well n skimming his projector outlines.

I really think Levis is probably better off only teaching upper level classes. I took 223 as a sophmore and I can't even tell you how confusing it was to listen to him talk about himself then test on the book, in later psyc classes his experiences came in useful. Take abnormal psyc with someone else and save Levis for your later years.
