Thanks to professor Martinez, I love literature now. After taking his class I learned how to dissect, analyze, and comprehend not only literature but almost everything: movies, songs, articles and much more. AMAZING prof! I Love how he engaged the class in lit. discussions. He does give As; at least 5 of us got an A in this class. But you must: read n prepare b4 going to class, participate and do the quizzes. Seek for his help (always available and gives good feedback) or go to the learning ctr. He offers extra credit. He's cool, funny n down 2 earth.

If you're okay with recieving a B or C then he's a great professor. Really tries to make you a better writer, however if you're not already a gifted writer there's no way you'll get an A. Does not have clear standards or really any standards, he grades essays based on how he feels rather than the writing itself. Most people got a C on every essay.

Martinez is a great English professor. He is a tough grader, but this only motives you 2 do better. Ask him for help with your essays if you have problems writing; he will help you. He encourages you to continue with your education. My English skills improved after taking his class. The best thing: he is the coolest professor at SAC. He is amazing.

His grading system is very odd. Does not have a rubric, gives most people C's for arbitrary things. My essays all received B's and when asked what made it a B instead of an A he sad he really didn't know, nothing big. basically just does not like giving A's. If your not an AMAZING writer dont take him. He is funny and cool though.

Literally, the best teacher you will ever take!!! He is hands down hilarious and funny. You have 4 papers max, which are only 3 pages in length. Quizes are based off readings(you need the book) and supppper easssy. Just talk in class and guaranteed an A. Lastly, there's a easy group project. He's very flexible, patient, and wants you 2 succeed!

He is pretty hilarious and pretty inept at entertaining the class with his jokes and stories. He truly cares about his students and he will help you if you ask for it. He is a tough grader and honestly you need to work your butt off to do well on exams, quizzes, and essays. Especially the research essay. But it is possible to pass. Believe!

I took Professor Martinez this Spring (2016) for English 61 and he was awesome! He's a super chill and hilarious person who actually cares for his students. You do read 2 interesting books and just requires another book. I recommend taking him the lowest grade he gives on an essay is a C as long as you try. Tough grader but prepares you for 101.

Beware his 102 doesn't compare to his 101. Chill w/ a good sense of humor but curses a lot. His way of breaking the ice to get students to participate. Doesn't test but oh boy does he quiz. Be ready to dissect all of your readings and if you can't analyze the way he does, say goodbye to your grade. He also misses a lot of class. ALL PRESENTATIONS!

Nervous on my first day but Martinez made it easy to feel comfortable right away. You could tell he's a chill professor who got along well with his students because of his funny & open attitude. He is a tough grader. You gotta double the effort you put in to get a passing grade on essays. He encourages participation, you get called on if you don't!

He is a very good teacher I honestly had a nice time in his class. He helped me a lot when I needed it. He made class fun, advice he is a though grader but it's only because he wants you to do good. I'll be honest with you all. I recently finish his summer 101 class. A 6 week course. And it is probably one of my top 5 instructors i ever had. All he ask of you is to participate with him. He will make you laugh, and push you to do your best. He is someone you can call a friend. Just that he is a tough grader. So pay attention on his "SIDE NOTES"

Donato man he is one kick back teacher. As long as you do your work and participate in class it will be an easy semester class. Very caring towards the students and wants them to succeed in school. I recommend him because he actually inspires you to do better
