Doris is a very special person. She really wants you to improve your writing and she wants to help. She is clear and very fun. She is the sweetest person ever. I hugged her on my last day. It was an easy class but please don't approach her like any other teacher. She deserves all the respect in the world. I recommend her. She is the best teacher.

Doris is a unique and talented person--she gives you a lot of freedom, and I wholeheartedly respect her for her experience in the creative writing process. But please don't take treat it as some easy BS class--take it for the learning process. She says upfront the average grade is a B+ so it's definitely not an easy A! Work hard and you'll be fine

Umbers is helpful and understanding of her students. Her classes were boring, but you get no papers, tests, or finals. All the work you do is in class. It's really good if you want an A for grade and gen ed. Make sure you take her when you take CW250.
