Midterm, Final test, and final term paper about earthquake safety and three small assignments sprinkled throughout the quarter. Lectures were very casual with lots of youtube videos, but this made learning difficult. Directions for the term paper are very confusing. Study guides are open ended, typical "what I studied wasn't on the test".

To think that this was a college level class was a joke. The teacher took the time to talk about himself and his own incessantly when given an opportunity. Was not objective in any sense of the word when it came to research, his political viewpoint ( which he made clear and made the classroom feel oppressive ) & how he felt about a past professor.

I don't care for Geology but Doug is such a good guy. It's a shame he doesn't teach a subject I care about because he's nice and good-looking.

Took the class because it was a GUR. All this class is watching a bunch of Hollywood movies then being tested on stuff crammed into a small PowerPoint after watching multiple movie clips

Doug's lectures contain a lot of examples (videos) on what he is lecturing about, which is great if you need that extra component to learn. You are graded on an 2 online tests (midterm & final) , 2 in-class concept sketches (midterm & final), 2 small extremely easy assignments, and a final paper based on where you live. Your lab grade is also 25%.

Took geomorph with him and it was a great class. The labs are great but the lectures can seem long, though he makes them entertaining. He grades pretty fairly, and is extremely approachable, however he leaves a LOT of nitpicky comments on assignments. I never bought the textbook and wouldn't have needed it even if I did.

Avoid this professor at all costs. This could be a great class but do NOT take this professor. We watch YouTube videos all class and then for the tests he expects us to know so much that he's never taught. Only reason I learned anything was from the lab component and a seperate teacher. Do not take this course!!

This is an easy GUR. There is minimal homework for the lecture, weekly, but easy, homework for the lab. Attendance isn't mandatory but recommended. Doug is a fun lecturer and won't put you to sleep.

Clark is a WONDERFUL lecturer. However, in order to actually do well on the tests, you DO have to read the textbook. Clark does give an optional assignment to take the place of one of the tests though, and it's just a rather easy poster. There are 3 short assignments too, worth 10 pts. Overall Clark is a wonderful professor!

Doug is awesome! By far the coolest professor I've come across at Western. He's passionate and extremely helpful with his students. Glad he took the time to teach an introduction course (usually teaches 300+). Learned a ton and now actually enjoy looking at rocks!

I took geomorph with Doug, a very time consuming class. The field trips and labs were fun, and the amount of effort you put into them is what you get out of them. Grading on assignments was easy, but exams and term paper were little harder. Doug himself is a great prof, approachable and helpful. I look forward to future classes I will take with him

Doug Clark is the reason I am a geology major. Super approachable, smart, great professor, and all around good guy. He was really easy for 101, but 310 is pretty killer. Take his class if you can, especially if you are new to geology/don't like it very much.

I took geomorph with Doug and thought he was great. The class is time consuming because of all the lab work, but he's a good teacher and is very helpful. He's always in his office (even during non office hours) and seemed happy to help. Class isn't super easily, but if you put some time into it you'll be fine. Labs are fun too!
