Comment:
Ed is a very caring teacher. He wants all of his students to succeed and is a generous grader. He calls his exams Celebrations of Knowledge and his weekly quizzes Learning Experiences which is great. He has a good sense of humor and is passionate about Physics. He can get a little distracted sometimes and deviate but overall is a great teacher.

Not very invested; doesn't know the answers to tests before he marks them. No consistency in lectures. Homework topics won't be covered in class until the due date. Course material is completely non-linear. The real professor is the book; Ed has failed to be anything more than a glorified tutor.

Ed is a great instructor, and my peers from last year miss him as we go onto higher level courses. He's entertaining, nice, and knows how to teach strategies rather than just solutions to specific problems. If there's a tricky variation to a common problem on a test, he's taught you how to work past it and find the solution.

I think Ed is pretty easy-going and very approacheable. He explains things quite well. But the mid-term quizzes are a bit hard. I would take his course again for the next level. And guys, you need to read your text book and go to class, don't expect to get an A+ without reading your book, doing homework and practice

Probably the worst prof I've ever had. Doesn't really know what he's talking about, when we ask questions, doesn't know the answers. Pretty much have to teach myself most of the time because he fails to do so.

Ed is a nice enough guy, and definitely knows what he's talking about. That being said, his lectures are scattered, and half of the time is spent correcting his own mistakes or talking about irrelevant things. He also took weeks to return assignments and labs, so it was difficult knowing where you stood in the class!

Ed gets a lot of bad flack from people thinking he's all over the place. This isn't true though; if you pay attention you'll find yourself learning everything he talks about. Great guy, good sense of humor, and very smart. Would definitely recommend

Good enough explanations of concepts, but extremely disorganized. Don't expect material from assignments/labs/quizzes/some midterms to be covered until weeks after they've been returned. Good class to take with a friend, because you're going to be teaching everything to yourself. Good luck, you'll need it.

ED is a really such a nice guy. He have been there all the time for my help. The problem that he doesn't know any more about what he talk, I believe he live in his own world. I use to take A on all my classes but with him I found it a really hard to even pass this course. Basically, if you love challenge go and take his class other ways forget it.

Agreed with previous comment: spends a lot of time correcting own mistakes, notes are often scribbled in corners and random places (horrible!), tests on concepts not covered. large chunk of material from course not present on final, practice exam and final exam completely diffrent in structure and material. huge waste of time.

Ed was an exellent professor and I highly recommend him if your are taking Physics at Camosun College. There is a reason he is the Department Chair, he is patient and very helpful. I had little interest in physics before this course and when I was finished I changed my major to Physics

Ed is the Physics & Astronomy chair, but for some reason doesn't seem to know anything on the subjects. He spends most of the class talking about irrelevant things, and a noticeable percentage of the lectures was spent correcting his mistakes, and writing our own exam questions. He marks easy, but don't count on him finishing the course material...

I went into this class terrified of physics and came out loving it:)A good teacher;tests are mostly problems and similar to ones taken up in class. He also assigns homework and gives marks for it...which I found cool. I got a crappy grade due to final exam...Ed please write your own exams! (Fall '0

Do not confuse not having a poor aptitude for physics with having a poor prof. Ed is always very friendly and helpful. He also covers the topics clearly and thoroughly in the class notes. Would definately recommend him as a teacher. If you dont like physics to begin with, stay at home!

If you can read the text book then you could teach the class. He doesn't help you at all and his tests are hard, but is an easy marker. So you can get a good grade, but don't expect to know or remember anything...
